I'm so lost when it comes to new music "artists" today. They all have to be super attractive, style icons, brand the **** out of themselves and have a robots help them sing garbage lyrics written by some sweaty fat guy that's basically just two generic, interchangeable lines repeated ad nauseam for three straight minutes. Getting in Twitter wars is more important for them from a financial standpoint than actually knowing how to sing. The more they are in the tabloids, the more money they make. It's so ****ed up and the dumb American public eats it up. They only care about **** when a "celebrity" cares about ****. Pisses me off.

Rant over.

Spot on though

Look back to the 1970's and 80's (really before music became completely corporate) music was way better but the artists were often goofy looking.

Look at Elvis Costello for example. Brilliant musician . But he looks like Buddy Holly 2.0

Springsteen? Bob Dylan?
Would the Stone get a record contract today with Mick Jagger and his lips as a frontman?

Not that it is the best song in the world (The Pina Colada song) but would a guy like Rupert Holmes ever get a record deal today?

**** yeah
I rarely listen to music and they still piss me off.

Meh. You guys act like that is the only music available. Tons of good music available these days... Its easier to produce and distribute music than ever so there is more opportunity for good new music than ever.

But if you sit and wait for a marketing department to bring it to you, your going to have a bad time. Everyone has different taste, and almost nothing other then bacon will appeal to everyone. The "best" things are not going to appeal to everyone, if you go too far in one direction you will please one set of people while moving away from all the others... So if you want to please EVERYONE you just have to sit in the middle and be catchy while working on your marketing pitch. No one is going to spend a bunch of money bringing you something perfect for you because there is a lot more to be made bringing something that is good enough for everybody.

So turn off MTV, stop listening to the same 5 songs on the radio... and go find music you actually like. There is more opportunity for that then ever.

Is not knowing who the **** she is a sign that I am old or that I have good taste in entertainment?

If I did not have kids I would not know who most of these current singers are. The funny thing is the majority of them came from Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. Corporate Synergy I guess.

Gentle Ben Kenobi found this- the guy who plays Pryce used to screw with stations in the Midwest pretending to be a yo-yo master

haha I have seen that before. So good.

I love how he keeps saying his friend was the "Garth Brooks of yo-yo" without ever explaining it. Where he describes the procedure for entering/signing into schools is awesome too. Seriously genius.

"You must practice a lot"

"Actually, no not really"

"Change traditional light bulbs for... non traditional lightbulbs... And I like to give tips that people don't know. For instance if you flush your toilet it wastes... a lot of water."

We give yo-yos to the homeless. If just one goes pro, it is all worth it
