Time to return! In all seriousness, there is one at Marina Pacifica in Long Beach and the patio sits on Alamitos Bay. If you take one of those coupons and go on Margarita Mondays ($3 Margaritas), you can fill your gut and get wasted for pretty cheap. Cool view too! The food on the other hand is very mediocre and that might be a stretch.

I have all of these little theories and anecdotes about life. One of them is my belief that no one should ever pay for a gym membership. My theory on that was (prior to Ron's last post) that people weren't fat 100 years ago and there were no gyms back then. That picture flies in the face of that one. I still think gyms are a complete waste of money. You can get excellent exercise anywhere using your own body weight. If you must lift weights, a set of $300 dumbbells will allow you to do all kinds of exercises. I fully believe most people go to gyms to look at other people and to show off. It's a social thing. All of that elaborate machinery is just smoke and mirrors.

And as I was typing that some religious folks just dropped off some pamphlets. I'll give these zealots credit, they were very brief but the over done smiles were a bit creepy.

The only value I have ever seen to a gym is it provides a place to work out with a friend or a group of friends. I prefer to have a workout buddy, helps motivate me to go in the first place. But I agree, you can still do this outside of a gym.

I love how they are all going to the gym, but taking the escalator :facepalm:

Since we talked about how useless the USPS is and especially their tracking.

I got a new phone a few weeks back and Verizon gives you a ready to go shipping envelope to ship your old phone back in.

I started getting these threatening texts and emails from Verizon on Tuesday that they hadn't got my phone yet and I was going to incur this $300 charge blah..blah..blah. So Verizon have me a tracking number which only showed that the post office was alerted on the day that pre-shipment info was sent to USPS on 2/14. Not that they have it, not where it is, or where it's going
I got texts and emails from Verizon today that the phone was received but the USPS tracking is still showing the exact same **** as it was on Tuesday

Worthless....

Don't get me started on USPS tracking. It is basically useless.

A small plane piloted by Harrison Ford has crash-landed at an L.A. golf course ... but we're told the actor has survived. TMZ has learned ... Ford was piloting what appears to be a vintage 2-seater fighter plane Thursday ... when something went wrong and he crashed into Penmar golf course in Venice, CA.
We're told Ford suffered multiple gashes to his head and was bleeding. Two doctors who happened to be at the golf course rushed over to treat the actor.
Emergency personnel arrived to the scene a short time later. Ford was transported to a nearby hospital.
72-year-old Ford is a longtime aviator -- piloting planes and helicopters -- and has crashed multiple times in the past.
Story developing ...

Imagine my surprise that there just happened to be two doctors golfing in Santa Monica on a Thursday afternoon. No stereotype there

I'm ok with doctors taking the time to do anything they ever want to do in life whenever they want to do it.

When my dad was struck with an abdominal aortic aneurysm that was ballooning at 8:00 in the evening, he literally had only hours to live. A heart specialist worked on him throughout the night, finishing at 6 a.m., after having had a full shift the day before. I will always consider that doctor and his surgery staff to have saved my dad's life that day.
