It was only a matter of time before a catcher got injured, they're all staying way too close to the plate these days trying to frame bad pitches as strikes.

The Cardinals are so bad the highlight on their homepage is a triple hit by Victor Scott II... in Memphis. And even they were losing 8-1 when he hit it.

It's going to happen. A entire rebuild needs to occur. The Blues are garbage yet are miles ahead of where the Cardinals are. Very sad stuff.

I think Hence and Hjerpe are going to be good. They need to pick a top of the rotation starter at #7 this draft and will have an another top 7 pick next year. Things can turn around quickly.

on a pace for 62.3 wins and 99.7 loses
Cool, I never mentioned anything about how the team would finish, just pointed out that you clearly didn't expect a ~.500 start contrary to the implication of your statement of "who would have thought"

give them time. once they dump goldy and arenado, then the real pain comes.
You were also wrong that this team needed to move Arenado and Goldschmidt to fall off a cliff. :thumbu:

The extent to which I pay attention to baseball is usually a few Spring Training games out here, which are super fun. Anyone visiting the Phoenix area during the spring has many opportunities to take in some Cactus League Spring Training games. Camelback Ranch is the go-to spot. Dodgers-White Sox. The Ranch is fantastic, but not cheap like Surprise Stadium where the Rangers and Royals train.

As far as the Cardinals are concerned , I don’t know who the players are, except for a few. Checking box scores is depressing cuz….Cardinals. An historically bad offense. Worst ever Cards’ offense? Prolly not. But……..

I’ll skip the box scores.

Cards’ City Connect jerseys are alright. I just wish they would’ve taken more of a risk. They’re supposed to be wild and drastically different, but they’re just Spring Training jerseys with “The Lou” on the chest with the same birds on the bat and same font as their cream colored jersey. They look nice. It’s better than taking a huge gamble and making something disastrous, but I think they could’ve pushed the envelope a little more.

Pitching has been good, need the offense to get it figured out. If we had old Goldy and Arenado, we'd be pretty good right now.

The fact the pitching has been the strength of this team is befuddling.

But the offense seems to have figured out how to take at-bats because I've been having fun again. The way they took Montas's pitch count to 80 in 4th was something to see.
