OT: OT: Lets Go Cardinals! (All Baseball Talk Here) Part 2

While Quintana and Montgomery aren't really starters that will go past the 6th, they are exactly who I talked about when I referenced how you can get solid 3/4/5 starters cheap at the deadline. Especially with the infield that we have, that was always going to be the best move. Lets see if some of the offense can support Goldy and Arenado. If DeJong can get back to his 2017-2019 numbers, we'll be in decent shape. And with Pallante back in the pen, you got a guy that can a few innings and be lights out, which minimizes the downside of those guys going just 5 or 6 innings.

Hopefully Burleson gets a call up at some point, guys like that can sometimes come up and just hit right off the bat. Might as well find out if he creates a spark in that outfield.

I'm also going to be somewhat curious what happens with Arenado. Does he decline the opt-out again and just be content with his current deal, does he re-do his deal with us, and does he test free agency since he's arguably having the best season of his career. He's silenced the doubts about only being an elite hitter at Coors, his elite defense has maintained, and based on comps, he'd probably be able to get similar term to what he has left, with some extra cash.

I still expect him back, but could possibly see a new deal. Besides the month of May, he's been absolutely crushing the ball. He's having an MVP type season just as much as Goldy is.

I'm 99.99% sure Arenado will be a Cardinal next season. He may opt-out to renegotiate his contract but I think he's going to retire in the Cardinal uniform.

While I want Burleson to get some games. Nootbaar is making it pretty difficult to call him up currently. Combined with them being at 39/40 on the 40-man with Flaherty coming back soonish. Plus it wouldn't surprise me if they want to delay his MLB time to another year. Especially when they can shove Edman into the RF and have Arenado-DeJong-Gorman-Goldy in the infield.
