There's enmity going back many centuries. I'll give the colonials a pass for the most part. No conceivable borders would have prevented the inevitable.
Not directing this at you, but we have a skewed view of the world from here in Fortress America. Two massive oceans and two benign, militarily impotent neighbors (drug cartels aside) still matter. An invasion by hostile ground troops is pretty much unimaginable. Not so just about anywhere else on the planet.
Now if we could only learn to mind our own damn business.

Found this place to stay when I'm over there. Looks pretty awesome.
Is there any obvious reason that I shouldn't stay there? Like the neighborhood is affectionately known as stabby central by the locals? Or the fire department shut it down 28 times for fire code violations? Or they expect you to eat pizza with a knife and fork? Or Steve works there and everyone hates Steve? f*** Steve
My ex and I stayed there one night years ago. It was impressive.
