Oshawa Generals 2024 25 Season Thread Part Ii

But it’s only the refs bad calls that made it a 7 to 1 score. Maybe you can accept that excuse in a 2 1 game but 7 1 ? Come on lol.
I know. I saw what's his face complaining on Twitter about the refs. There wasn't one penalty called on Barrie that wasn't justified lol

So much talent on this Barrie team but Hillebrandt’s play is night and day compared to his performance in rd 1 last year. I would assume we see Hrebik start on Tuesday

The irony of the Barrie fans making fun of me for complaining about some calls but then they go do the same thing… hypocrites

Pouliot has been a huge addition and has helped turn thier play around. Malone mentioned in his post game presser he deferred to him on the power play and look what happened.

Oster gets taken out by jelsma

Jelsma did lots of that in the Kingston series and it went uncalled

What a game, and what a win for Oshawa.

Blowing a 5-3 lead is suboptimal, but trying it up with a minute to play then winning it in double overtime has to be an absolute backbreaking for Barrie.

Jake Oster really struggled in regulation but he was magnificent in overtime with several miraculous saves. Fortunately for Oshawa, Hillebrandt was even worse. It was obvious that he was fighting the puck all night and his positioning was terrible. On the tying goal, he was way overcommitted and left 3/4 of the net wide open for Owen Griffin. And on the OT winner, Hillebrandt didn’t even move to try and get over to stop the Torrance shot. It’s like he was mesmerized by Sennecke in the slot.

As for Sennecke, he’s taken his game to a totally new level since the last series. He’s playing much more disciplined and much more physical - - as Tristan Bertucci can attest. His set up on the game winner was fantastic and his goal where he made a fool of Kashawn Aitcheson was even better. I can’t believe Sennecke wasn’t one of the three stars, but I suppose they have to keep pushing the Barlow narrative.

As for Aitcheson, he’s taken was by far the worst player on the ice in Game 3. Stupid penalty that resulted in a power play goal for Oshawa, brutal giveaways the worst of which came on Oshawa’s fifth goal. Not only did he turn the puck over with a no look backhand pass attempt, on the ensuing rush he ended up putting the puck in his own net. And of course getting humiliated by Sennecke for a highlight reel goal.

The fans were obviously in Aitcheson’s head and he was playing totally out of control. I realize he’s an emotional player, but he has to find a way to dial that emotion down and not let the moment get too big for him.

I would have preferred to see the 4th line take a few shifts in overtime, but Oshawa just rolled three lines. And then after Sandhu left with an injury, they were down to four-and-a-half defencemen. Clearly they do not trust Simon Wang in high pressure situations and rightly so, as they were constantly hemmed in their own end running around whenever Wang was on the ice in overtime.

Being 1st in OHL playoff scoring is quite a narrative!

U banged on the kid all year. Said it was an awful trade. Said he wasn't a good player. Over & over.

Maybe just say u got it wrong and say he's come up HUGE for Oshawa when it matters?

Only been off the scoresheet twice. 7 points in games 2 & 3 of this championship series. 28 points in 15 games.

It's unlikely they beat London, but if they do he'll get serious consideration for playoff MVP.

I actually expect Oshawa to beat London. Sennecke, Barlow, Ritchie, Marrelli and Griffin are beasts right now.

Even their character guys like Buckley and Torrence are coming up clutch.

It would hopefully be closer than last year. This team has somehow managed to avoid any serious injuries so far (knock on wood) This is around the time last year where Sennecke and Punnett both went down. Closing out Barrie on Thursday would be ideal.

Any word on Sandhu? That would be a big hit. He’s played well

I think rather than knights in 4 it may be knights in 5 so you’re right will probably be much closer but still a blowout or two is inevitable.

Last year over 7 goals a game on Oster was as 1 sided of a finals as it will ever get. If he can redeem himself and maybe rather than letting in 7 he lets in 4 a game Oshawa could squeak out with a win.

Not without Barkey. If we get Montgomery, Halttunen, Julien, Nicholl going then we have a shot.

It didn't and doesn't look good. Given that they are up 3-0, will likely not dress him the rest of this series to give him rest. Expect Svozil in the lineup tomorrow.

Assume so. Wanger had a bit of a tough game. But the kid is improving. They’ll role 5 D and Svozil spot duty

Wang has had a great rookie season for only playing a half season but he has also made a couple mistakes that have put Oshawa in vulnerable spots which is why when Oshawa shortens the bench, he is not seen. I expect most of the defensive ice time tomorrow will be Marelli/Danford & D'Amato/Gibson while Svozil and Wang get peppered in based on game script.

Looking like a rematch. Obviously you’d have to win tonight to get the sweep, but it is looking likely. Can’t believe how much you are dominating the colts. I know a lot of people said they were scared of the colts, but I’ll be honest if always bet on the team with more experience and that’s what you have. Playoff gamers. You fans must be pleased with how things have come together.

Sandhu is listed in the starting line up and is on the ice for warm ups and looks fine. Interesting that Svozil is not in the warm up but Brady Blaseg is.

Colts brain trust has decided to finally start Hrebik after Hillebrandt was brutal for the first three games. But at this point, does it really matter?

This is around the time last year where Sennecke and Punnett both went down.

Don’t forget that Buckley was also out with a shoulder injury in the finals last year - - Oshawa was missing three huge pieces.

Now this year London comes in with Denver Batkey hurt. Although can’t imagine London fans would ever use injuries as an excuse.
