Lardis is signed he won’t be back next season.

If Misa going to school is true and they figure that out before Jan 10th I bet he becomes available
Do we know that Misa is aloud to go to school? Are we certain that guys can leave the OHL for school before their OA year?

Wouldn’t that mean Miss could commit to school then sign with his NHL team and play in the AHL? Or go overseas if he wanted?

That would seem like a potential loop hole that the NHL and CHL will likely close quick.

My thinking is if he tried that it wouldn't work, as he wouldn't be enrolled in NCAA until August or September, he would be drafted out of the CHL and would have to go without a contract as long as he is in the NCAA if he went that route.

As he would be drafted as a CHL player I would think he would be subject to the NHL-CHL agreement for atleast the first season to prevent circumventing that agreement. You let him play his draft+1 year in the NCAA no problem but he can't sign a contract a week after enrolled to go to the AHL.

I could also see i similar loop hole in reverse. An example of that would be Hage, he was drafted by Montreal and Sudbury still hold his rights. Maybe Montreal and Hage sign a contract in the off season he no long would be eligible for the NCAA, does he go AHL or does he revert to CHL because the wolves have his rights.

Lots to be clarified between the 3 parties come the off season.

Hearing rumours of Rasmus Kumpulainen joining the generals after the the WJC is over..
That rumour starting making it's way around at about 1pm today. I find it hard to believe he would leave to go play pro in Europe just to come back halfway through.

I'm not saying it won't happen, I just personally find it unlikely and would be shocked.

Can we sign Wang to a full card? This kid is going to be dynamite. Very different game for him today. Can really see his upside.

Pretty sure he doesn’t have a full card yet is because he wants to play in the OJ for now… Gens would make him an everyday guy right now if they could, hopefully they do

You don’t need to sign him to a full card. All you need to do is play him 10 games and he automatically reverts to a full card. It is more a matter of how much he wants to play with Oshawa this year.

Don’t think it’s happening either. Kumpalainen was solid last year, was just kind of o.k in the playoffs. Would gladly take him back if it meant upgrading on Svozil though. Just can’t see Minnesota wanting him back here.

I think it ultimately may come down to what Minnesota wants tbh

He got hurt last year in 2nd round against Ottawa when he got slammed into a open door on the players bench and wasn't the same after. I would think it would be easier to keep a eye on his progress in oshawa vs over in Finland from a Minnesota perspective .

The heavily rumoured OSH-SSM trade has hit a snag with no trade clauses. We'll see if that's the undoing of the trade or if they can get around that.

That's tough for the Gens if those two guys won't move. I think they can still compete with Barrie, but another piece would be ideal and it will be tough with just picks and very high prices.

So much conflicting information out there right now. It is tough to know what is true and what is false. I’ve pretty much given up trying to dig for info. Until Jeff Marek posts it to X, I think we’ll just have to wait….

Agreed. Our so-called Insiders here said it was done, but we really just have to wait for Marek or a team source.

Yes. If (and that is a BIG “IF”) the information last week that Brady Smith did not waive his NTC, then it looks like the information that was bad was that they had worked out the issues over the weekend and the deal was basically done. It looks now that there was never a change in the status of the NTC with Brady Smith….again, assuming it is Brady Smith. Of course, we don’t know that either. It could be Gibson for all we know!

Just a lot of bad information floating around now. I stopped digging. Just a bunch of fool’s gold and I am the fool for digging it up!

There's been too much floating around and too much name swapping between Smith and Griffin.

No one knows which one is involved in the SSM trade or if both are. All that's been known for sometime now is one of the Oshawa players has been reluctant on waiting their NTC as both have them.

We will see how it unfolds, if it does. Personally, if I'm SSM, I would be pretty close to losing patience and pivoting to other offers.

If that happens, it could be Oshawa's season on the line if the LATEST rumor is true.

I don't believe that Gibson has a NTC, but both Smith and Griffin do. It could be either one or both. Knowing Gibby a bit, I think he's open to finishing his career on a contender and helping out the Hounds.

Really tough break for the Gens. I don't know how they make a substantial addition if this doesn't go through.

The dick move would be to tell whoever isn't waiving that they won't see any substantial ice time the rest of the year if they don't waive. I'm sure the Gens GM will try a much more diplomatic tactic. This is probably paused for now but could easily still happen.

The message is usually pretty simple. “As a 16 year old on a Championship calibre team, you will get 4th line minutes. Next year we are rebuilding so we will be running a cycle of trades which likely means you will have rotating linemates. It is likely better for your development AND draft year if you were to go to a rebuilding team now, play top 9 minutes, start on a line that you can grow through next season with and represent yourself well for NHL scouts.” I think that is the standard message given to most 16 year olds.

Most agents endorse that message unless the team they are going to is a gong show…

I know of some situations in the Soo where trades with several picks were sacrificed just to keep a good reputation with players. I think that would be the same thing in Oshawa. It's just one of those things that teams have to navigate.

If players don't want to leave your team to go to another excellent development program then that's probably a good thing overall.

I feel like the the disappointment in the front office would be short term. Yes, you would be upset that a players NTC has held up a deal that could impact your deep run but in the long term, can you really hold it against a kid because he DOESN'T want to leave your program?
