Agreed, which is why I did NOT do per capita, but comparable populations (actually, the GTA is larger (6.4M to 5.7M).Still comparing g a city to an entire country. Not the same thing. Sort of like saying thunder Bay has more per capita because the staals came from there. Per capita is not the same thing.
A few years ago I did a count over 200 rinks in Toronto counting the outdoor ones.
Finland has close to 400 rinks counting the outdoor ones.
I wasn't really comparing them, just pointing out how high the Finnish representation is in the NHL (possibly more surprising considering how far away they are). The Finns are easily the second most hockey mad people in the world.
