We saw it for stretches last season. We saw it tonight. Aho + Lindholm have some impressive chemistry.

Excited about Fleury. Once he finds his offensive game at the NHL level, he's going to be a difference maker on the 3rd pairing with that size and skating ability.

Can we all be glad Lindy isn't pointless in October?

Lindholm, with his 2 assist performance, has already surpassed his entire October output of each of the last 3 seasons.

I don't think any other teams' fan could appreciate the value of being able to put Slavin, a top-5 defensive D in the league, in the shootout as the Hammer and bring home a win. I know I am being all types of homer here but Slavin is an Eichel/Matthews level impact player

Well, Karma prevailed. Seriously, how the f*** did they say that was not goaltender interference. That's about as bullshit a call as I've ever seen.

All said I'll trade my Mountaineers getting f***ed by the refs for a Canes win despite the f***ing and a USMNT domination like they did last night.

Overall thoughts:
Darling looked fine. Nothing he could do on the PPG and the Staal goal. Already got in to the BS that was the 4th goal, can't make a save when you're being impeded from playing your position. He might want that pokecheck on the Stewart one back but eh, is what it is.

Hanifin... Holy f***ing tire fire when he was paired with Pesce. You could tell he got things back together when he was with Faulk but holy shit man. That said his pinch on the GTG was a beauty.

Defense otherwise was fine especially once they got things sorted out and back to normal pairings.

Offense... about half the guys didn't seem like they were in it tonight. And that's including Rask with his what should have been GWG if the refs had any f***ing clue what Goaltender Interference was. Aho was Aho, Williams was solid, Lindholm seems to have it from the beginning for once, the 4th line was great, Kuokkanen had a pretty nice first outing. Everyone else was either eh, or completely fighting the puck (Skinner). And yet we still found a way to win. Feels like it's been more then a decade since we could say that... oh wait.

Am I the only one who thinks that Lindholm could eventually be the best player on this team? he's big, strong, great release, and is a great passer. solid at the dot and above average defensively. Thoughts??

Aho, but Lindholm is undeniably looking more and more like the guy that people were expecting him to be when we drafted him. I think he's finally starting to overcome being rushed by Rutherford.

Third opening game win since 2003. There is a jesus

And we won in SO

probably a 10% chance of this win this way

I promise I'm not going to be a dick about this all season, but Hanifin was noticeably protected in the third period. I know Fleury got at least one shift with Pesce in the third. I doubt if Hanifin got a single d-zone start in the third. IMO, Hanifin's spot in the top-4 isn't secure at the moment. How can it be.

Anyhow, very loose both ways, but looking at the scores around the league, maybe this is the way things are going to be. It's fun watching all the coach's heads collectively explode talking about 8-5 games.
