I felt bad for him last year, his season got totally torpedoed with an early injury.

He started to look like a useful player towards the end but the writing was already on the wall.

In one sense Fitz was correct about some elements the team needed. NJ crushed the Panthers this season in part because the Panthers had to answer the bell against NJ. They actually don’t like doing that. They are paper tigers. The issue is you need players who can hit and play with an edge and have talent. That last part is lost on Fitz.

To be fair, he probably did have the hottest start to an NHL career of any goalie since Brodeur.

But somehow it wound up falling apart almost as quick as Jim Carey.

A lot of people speculated the loss of his dad caused his decline in play, but he did start getting injured a whole lot from very early on.
