I think goaltenders are statistically pretty bad in the second game when they play two nights in a row but I have no doubt Shesterkin would buck that for us haha
They are statistically worse. The question is whether a bad Shesterkian better than Quick, who has been mediocre to bad over the last month. Especially with a 3 day break afterward.

Such a shame to hear the booing.

If we beat them tomorrow will they fire anybody over Christmas? Or does only Lou do that?

I'm speaking Drury here more than Lavi.

They are still getting paid. I'm sure a lot of them are relieved to not have to deal with crap, although they probably worry about getting another job.

Nobody told me there'd be days like these...

Rangers played ok. They had their chances against the Canes. Give Kotchetikov credit. NJ will need good goaltending tomorrow to beat them assuming tht Rangers muster another decent effort. At least Rempe won’t be there so NJ doesn’t have to play MacDermid.

I think Thursday could be a blood letting day, not just for the Rangers.
Adams/Buffalo? Possibly Lalonde? He's been my favorite for ''Hottest seat among coaches'' and yet there's already been 3 firings and none were him.

They just lost to the Canadiens two nights in a row and they're 3 games below NHL500.

Yep. In NY and Buffalo you are in the GM is probably going to get fired anyways so the might roll the dice on the coach firing. Though cost is an issue in Buffalo.

And Lalonde might go in Detroit. A 3 day break where the team can’t enter the building is a good time for a reset for an organization.

Last 15 rag games Quick has played 5 games and has posted an .855.

Igor has played 11 and posted a .910.

still waiting on that Caps PDO bender to end.........

They’re just legitimately good. They still get underrated because of the lack of name brand superstar talent but even while there might be some regression it’s not like they’re wildly shooting the lights out or getting incredible goaltending. They’ll still be a top team even if the finishing/goaltending regresses some

They have the second highest shooting percentage in the league, but their underlying numbers are legitimately good. I'm still not sold on them as a true contender. They just don't have anything close to the top end talent that cup contenders have.

I guess they could pull the once in a decade Blues run where a mid team gets hot, but all of Toronto, Florida, the Devils, Carolina, and even Tampa are better teams.

Even with first in the metro, I could see them losing to a team like Boston or the Islanders in the first round. Ottawa is the only team I think they're clear favorites over.

They’re 4th in totals goals above expected but in terms of goals scored they’re only 7th. Then goals saved above expected they’re 9th. The goaltending should be sustainable. Lindgren was good last year and Thompson’s been good for years. Even if the finishing dips they’re still among the top of the league in creating so should whether that.

I wouldn’t favor them to win a Cup but I also wouldn’t be shocked to see them beat anyone in a series. I’m not convinced at all that Carolina and especially Toronto are better teams. Toronto’s played average hockey but have gotten elite goaltending. Toronto’s not all that great. Carolina tilts the ice more but it’s not a crazy difference. Like Washington they lack true superstar talent but at least Washington’s finishing well. Even if that finishes dries up some they have the goaltending that Carolina doesn’t. There’s a legit case to be made Washington is better than the Canes and the 4th best team in the conference. I’d only feel confident right now saying us and the 2 Florida teams are actually better teams.

Agree with most of this, but I don't think they'd lose to the Islanders in the first round. The current Islanders are legit bad, if not completely awful.

Maybe Boston could beat them if Swayman ever wakes up.
