Lou got some respectability into the Isles because things were really bad and trashy before he was hired and it chased Tavares out of town.

But they are also kind of in that really bad spot of not being good enough to contend or bad enough to get high end draft talent. Plus they got a lot of old guys.

I think Lavi’s one of the many whatever coaches but this is the 2nd coach they seemingly just gave up on. Keep the coach for now and send players packing as a message

In more realistic terms Panarin signed for 13.2% (he also took a discount to be a Ranger as there were offers for 12.5 and he signed for 11.64) if the cap jumps up to like 95 mil then that 13.2% of the cap is around 12.5 mil. I’m not taking anything less than that from the Rangers

Scratch that. Panarin’s % of cap was 14.29% when signing. The CapWages one showed his current %. 14.29% of 95 mil next year would be over 13.5

It’s beautiful

in my humble opinion, I can see Igors contract situation being the main driver for the guys like Zib, Kreider, Panarin, and to some extent Trouba (dont think he has much of a choice of this) playing badly.

I would say Igor is one of the first players in a long time to demand huge money from Rangers and it just so happens that to make this happen, one or probably two of those guys need to go.

I wonder if they feel as though they aren't gonna be on the team past this year anyway and its taking a toll on their will to play/put themselves 100 percent on the line like they normally do.

It's hard for me to reason with why theyre playing so bad, they have a great coach and a pretty solid lineup along with a generational goalie.

If anything broke them mentally it’s the offseason and the scummy way they handled Goodrow’s situation and then trying to force their captain out of town. Both of those from a strictly hockey standpoint make sense. Both of those guys suck. Both of those guys though are beloved in the room.

I don’t think it’s Igor’s deal because the main culprits for their struggles are guys that should be moved on from regardless of Igor. Lindgren’s a broken down bottom pair guy who will make too much money when he’s a UFA next summer. Trouba’s a bottom pair guy making 8 mil. Zib’s been mediocre at 5v5 for years and is making 8.5 mil. He never should’ve been re-signed to begin with. Kreider I think is still decent but at 6.5 mil and him likely still carrying value I’d look to cash in on him. Panarin’s still Panarin and incredible. He’s not an issue.

The Trouba story is somewhat old news though. I’m thinking they just don’t care about the regular season. After last season why make a big effort if you can sneak into the playofffs and do just as well?

I'm guessing they buy out Trouba and find some middle ground with Igor. If they can move Kreider, which is probably the most doable thing, then they have a chance to nab Rantanen or Marner. But at best, that just brings them back to what they've been for a few more years.

Really ugly and yet so beautiful.

Rangers so lucky to beat the Habs. Not only the double minor in the last couple minutes to be on the PP, but Kakko tripped his man just inside the blue line and then skated to the net where he ended up with the puck and empty net for the GWG .
He should have been called for the trip that directly lead to the GWG . Bullshit non call. The guy he tripped enabled him to be wide open with no coverage on him.
It’s so frustrating when the refs directly influence the outcome of a game.
Almost a bad of a non call when Nico was dumped the other game against the Blues and the non call lead to a goal against.

That loss might put Marty St. Louis back on the hot seat.

If he ever really was on it to begin with.

TSN commentators lost it on the simple cross slot pass from Hutson lol - made it seem like an incredible play to pass the puck through the slot to player who was completely uncovered as ll the rangers were on the opposite side of the ice.

If they lost to the Canadiens I really wouldn't have been surprised by us facing them with a new head coach and GM on Monday.

It’s part of it, but Drury probably threw too many bombs in the locker-room.

When Drury was running Hartford he got into embroiled into melodramas with two different 1st rounders.

Not defending Andersson and Kravtsov, or blaming Drury for them busting, but he didn’t exactly smooth things over with either player.

He weirdly feuded with both, often publicly, which seemed like a bad strategy as both seemed like the types who needed a softer approach. They seemed a bit befuddled by the hostility at times too.

Cut to Drury as the NYR GM. He fumbled his attempt to pressure Trouba into accepting a trade in the off-season.

He also dumped Goodrow in the most awkward way possible, the guy got a 15 minute warning he was going to be on waivers.

Now Cut to November.

They had a bad Western roadtrip and Drury sends out a memo to every GM saying he’s open to trading players. He specifically names Trouba and Krieder.

Trouba is still their Captain and he’s treating like the thing that wouldn’t leave. He’a not rallying shit this year.

Kreider has been a Ranger for 13 years. 10th in Games Played, if he plays 60 more this season for the NYR he’ll be 6th.
10th in Points, 26 more gets him to 8th.
3rd in Goals, 24 more gets him to 2nd.
2nd in PP Goals and soon to be 1st (needs 3 more).

After the News blew up, Drury met individually with Trouba and Kreider, and reportedly the meetings were “very productive” (lol), but that was a f*** up.

The team was 12-6-1 at the time. Shopping veterans without giving them a heads up is pretty awkward and insulting.

And plenty of people think the trade memo was supposed to leak in order to motivate the team and the opposite happened.

The players basically assume the team is getting blown up now and bunch of the leaders are walking dead men.
