Man, I know they don't like signing people in season but Chychrun might need to be an exception. He's like the perfect guy to fill Carlson's role as he slows down.

Chychrun and Oshie the type guys you always wanted with the Caps and then it happened. Reminds me of getting Iafrate in 91.

Obviously I'm happy that they're lights out on the PP right now, but it does hurt a bit knowing how much better it looks without Ovechkin.
I've been banging the drum for the last couple years now, people love saying Ovi is just a PP merchant but he's probably close to a net negative to the PP now a days. The fact he doesn't move much, the puck is a grenade on his stick if he isn't shooting, basically turns it into a quarter ice 4v4. It makes it much easier for the PK to play and disrupt.

NJ really likes the cross-crease pass, right along the goal line. Looking for garbage and bounces, I guess, but so far we've been stopping it...

Is that - or that Chychrun is just better in Carlson’s usual spot? His shooting is insanely hot right now (and likely unsustainable). Little bit of both probably.

I mean, it doesn’t hurt that the PP looks better without Ovechkin, puts more credit to the thought that they’ll be able to do well in a few years when he hangs them up.
