Just as a brief check, I downloaded the data for NJDs games (data back to 08-09)

Highest xGoals total we gave up was 6.074 in this game vs Philly Game

Highest xGoals total we generated was 6.472 in this game 5 days later lmao Game

I only found 11 games 10 games* starting from 2007-08, on Natural Stat Trick where a teams previously got up to 7 xGoals but I couldn’t find any that got to 8.

*I did find 11 but one of them didn’t make sense statwise, so I checked it against Evolving Hockey, and NST f***ed up. *Shrug*

If it was easier to search on EH, I would do it there but I would do there but I would have to do by team for each season and even I’m not insane enough to waste my time doing that. (Close but no.)

Caps are definitely a good team (thus far). They totally dismantled the NYR last night. Score was a lot closer than it should have been for part of it. The shots were so lopsided and the possession in the rags zone so lopsided I was surprised the rangers had even 10 shots.

Maybe it's an outlier game, but caps looked really good.

Zibanejad is already looking like a calamity of a contract

Dostal may be as good as Shesterkin, considering John Gibson is elite and doesn’t even have nearly those kinds of numbers behind the same Ducks team! :sarcasm:

Dostal is doing a bit of his prime Schneider impression, the Ducks are getting caved nightly but he's saving them a ton (no pun intended, lol). I'm glad we got Reimer the other night

I think they're legit good this year man, they're not the slow team in previous years
I think they are working hard in a good system but they also have a lot of guys overachieving right now to my eyes. When they start having injuries and the schedule isn’t so kind I am not seeing them keeping up this points pace even if they are better than anyone expected.

These are the injuries/absences the Avs are dealing with now:

It was pretty ugly when Wood & Colton had to play big minutes in the top 6 with Nichushkin, Lehkonen & Drouin out, but the forwards with them out as well is really something:
