I’m of two minds watching the Rangers implode.

On the one hand, the rivalry is more fun when they’re good and we kick their asses anyway. And my father in law is a Rangers fan, so I can’t openly gloat too much, it would be unseemly.

On the other hand, it’s the Rangers. F*** them, just on principle. I want them to crash and burn hard, in as embarrassing a fashion as possible. I want Drury to bungle this so bad that his name becomes synonymous with outrageous failure, this generation’s Mike Milbury.

I'm the only Devils fan in my extended family (including my dad and brother) that has about 25 Rangers fans. I have no issues letting them here it.

But I've always been like that. I went Mets and Jets too when they are all Yankees and Giants. I guess we are all Knicks fans but I lost interest in it in '93 when I started watching hockey full-time.

I do have a couple of pictures of my around 6 years old with a Yankees jersey and hat which gets whipped out by my aunt every Christmas Eve.

I hearing that background theme song in Home Alone, like the one they play when they're running through the airport, among other times in the first two movies I think?

And I keep seeing both Drury and Adams racing each other to try to avoid being the first one fired.

With Derek Lalonde looking off in the distance with a big smile on his face because he was able to evade being fired this long.

It's funny how some sports fans here are lucky and some so unlucky, everyone in NJ has buddies who are a Devils, Giants and Yankees fan and have seen over a dozen titles combined and others who are a Rangers, Mets and Jets fan, a combined two titles over the past 50 years.

And the latter are usually the most depressing people you will meet in general.

I'm a Dolphins and Mets fan, the Devils dynasty run saved me from jumping off a bridge, but 21 years is stretching thin.

I mean, we've seen the Devils do a complete 180 in season. They still have Shesterkin. They're only 1 point out of the playoffs.
I think they're done this year, but I also think they can fix their problems easier than some think, they have an elite goalie locked up and I do like their young crop of forwards, but their blue line is a train wreck.

I'm just not sure what they are going to do with the roster.

The names out there were Kreider and Trouba. Trouba was traded for cap space.

Ranger fans seem to want everyone gone including Zibanejad and Fox. Zibby's contract is going to be harder to move than Troubas...

I just don't know what other teams are going to trade the Rangers star players to replace all of the goals and production their fans want shipped out of town.

At this point the group they have is going to have to snap out of it somehow and go on a run.

If the Rangers players are checked out despite being a point or so out, that's a team being mentally soft and a bunch of unlikable babies.

The 2019 Blues
The *gag* 2012 Kings

Look it's not a trope. Win and get in, anyone can beat anyone.

I can understand if they were historically awful but holy crap what a laughable, internal overreaction.

I think there is going to be a big market for Kreider, he has scored over 120 goals the previous three seasons, I wouldn't be surprised if there will be at least a dozen teams who would be interested in him at the trading deadline.

Yeah I would hope the Devils are one of the interested teams though I doubt the Rangers would trade him here.

A line of Kreider-Hughes-Bratt makes my pants tingle.

It's definitely fixable. Players are always going to want to go there.

Just hard to see it this season because the vibes are so rotten in that locker room.

Obviously we have seen teams have in season turn around, but we have also seen bad streaks fester and get worse too.

I assume Lav is going to get fired if this continues so maybe a new coach bump helps them slip back in. The east bubble line isn't very good

If Shesterkian keeps them in it until February they can go crazy and remake the roster at the deadline a bit.

11 of their next 13 are against playoff teams.
That’s a sink or swim stretch for them.

We would have to over pay for him and I think teams like the Caps and Kings are going to be very interested in him.
I could easily see him going to LA. I also don't think the Caps are going to be able to keep this up.... but if the Caps are in, they have the same chance of getting him as we do.

But outside Kreider they really don't have a lot to offer at the deadline, Trocheck has five years left on his contract, maybe Reilly Smith but he's not going to fetch much.

They’re a point out, but I don’t see what could reverse their fortunes other than dumb luck or superhuman performance from Shesterkin. (Both, of course, are still possibilities).

But that team has probably entered a death spiral. The sense of inevitable failure is snowballing on them, and it’s very hard to pull out of that. What’s more, the few leaders who could have brought them back have either already been traded, or are demoralized by publicly being on the block. The other players clearly have little faith in management to do right by them, and I don’t blame them.

I think the Rangers might hang around on the bubble for a while, simply because the bottom half of the conference is that bad. But I wouldn’t be surprised if the bottom drops out, and I certainly don’t expect them to be a contender this year.

I haven't really looked over at the Rangers board on this site, but on other sites I can tell you that a vast majority of them didn't even want to sign Igor with the way the team is right now. They are saying they should have traded him for a boatload. They pretty much want everyone gone.

Everyone wants to blame Drury, but I'm going to drop the blame all on him even though the Trouba situation was terrible. They were 12-4-1 but if you look deeper at it they have had 2 wins against anyone noteworthy (Leafs and Canucks) and they haven't gotten any wins against a good team in a month.

October 19th - Leafs
November 19 - Canucks

That's it.

I forget what reporter it was but he quoted a ex-GM saying if the Rangers put Shesterkin on the market that at least TWO dozen teams would have been interested. Even if he's exaggerating he probably would have brought them a King's ransom for the Rangers.

The problem is they have had the 2nd easiest schedule to this point and the 3rd hardest for the remainder of the season. It's going to be incredibly tough for them.

I have a feeling they will be hating that Igor contract within 2 years, 3 tops of this date.
