As shitty as last year was I can't honestly remember the atmosphere ever being THIS toxic other than perhaps the MacLoser season when Lou tried to get some guys (re: Langs) out and Kovalsuck was benched a game for missing team meetings, but that season was kind of an extension of the end of 2010-11 when Langs got all hissy about Lemaire wanting to take away the C for a preseason game, among other things.

Only thing close was this game I can remember in recent time :

Ironically enough, it was against NYR too. Every goal was either a PPG or SHG for NYR besides the empty net. That was around the time questions of Hall's future were being questioned (Literally a Taylor's leaving chant in that game too....), second straight year of being ass after 17/18, Jack having a rough start (most of us knew he'd be fine but there was still a worry when the points would come). Then you have the whole playing NYR at Prudential which can get very messy during blowout games. Oh and baldy's job security being questioned right after he got extended earlier in the year. At least the jerseys were elite in that game

The crazy thing with Luke was his September birthday, you were drafting a 17 year old. I remember Power as a pretty much as consensus #1, maybe there was a little hype for Beniers. STI has talked at length about how the hockey community equates size and skating ability with defensive ability when it comes to drafting defensemen, but they're separate. That said, I do remember STI being pretty confident in Power and felt he was a worthy #1.
I do remember him also saying that while Power and Beniers have a lot of the things NHL teams look for in lottery picks, the margin between them and the other guys in the top 9 were very thin and there were definitely teams with other guys at #1 on their board. I think he had Luke as the #1 prospect and said he definitely would have been in the convo if he hadn't missed half the season.

I don’t see anything particularly good about Spencer Knight. Maybe down the road, but certainly not right now.

There’s gonna be two softy of the night goals for tonight, because one was a hilariously bad giveaway, which this one particular goalie just did the other night and now he’s done it again. And it was beyond a blooper reel goal.

And then there was this really awful floater on Knight that was beyond lousy. He’s off his angle, he’s way deep in his net. The Backlund goal was really bad. I don’t see many that bad. The Coleman goal was also bad.

What kind of sick bastard posts Hynes’ era brutal home losses to the Rags?

Here’s his list.

He did have Power at #1 and Luke at #5.

Holy shit what a tire fire of a game by Gusev. That guy was straight space junk. Never liked that player one bit. I remember people here penciling him in as a top line winger. Good grief.

I heard the ''Fire Hynes'' chant on TV that day. It was later in the 3rd period I think. Not sure if it made it anywhere in that video or not. I don't remember a Taylor's leaving chant though.

Getting shutout by Georgiev is embarrassing enough. I'm pretty sure that's his last shutout to date.

Actually, I'm just kidding, he had a few in Colorado.

I thought he played good enough and started to produce later on that year, I can't remember if it was right after Hynes was fired that it started getting better, if it was a bit after Hynes was fired or if he started right before Hynes was fired. It couldn't have been too long before that, because he was looking like a complete and utter bust at one point in November.

He sucked terribly the next year though, and he only seemed to score and pile up points mostly on junk time goals. Like when we were down by two goals and pulled the goalie and scored a goal to bring us to within one.

After the mutual termination of his contract he immediately signed with Florida, but it wasn't long before he became he was perma-healthy scratched for the rest of the year. I distinctly remember him appearing in 0 playoff games for them, and all indications were that it wasn't because he was hurt. He very quickly fell out of favor there.
He was highly skilled. He simply could not keep up with the pace of the game. That was his biggest issue by far.
I don't know about highly skilled, but skilled. Maybe highly skilled by KHL standards.

His NHL stint was much like Tedenby. An offensive player that doesn't produce (enough) offense.

Though Gusev wasn't nearly as bad as Tedenby at producing offense. He did fine at it in his first season in the NHL. Almost all of Tedenby's NHL total points came I think in his 30 games or something?
