But I try not to hold it too hard against athletes (or even people, at least up to a certain point) who support a leader of their country, even if they are evil.
I remember a little over 20 years ago we had a similar situation in America. I remember quite a few athletes coming out and backing one particular figure. Even Wayne Gretzky did, if I'm not mistaken.
Don Cherry even berated his fellow Canadian co-host on air for not being supportive.

Removing the rose colored glasses for a moment, it's pretty sad to see what is most likely the tail end of Crosby's career being wasted due to the Pens incompetent management over the last 6 years. A mediocre GM should have been easily been able to make that Pens roster at minimum a bubble team every year, even with their aging core. Too many painfully stupid roster moves.

Yeah I agree, thanks to disclosures of documents from the Washington administration USAID did horrible job to create chaos around the world but athletes from USA have nothing with it as NHL as organisation so people around the world should not blame sport for it and sport should stay away from politics, especially when most of countries are giving the choice between bad and bad, and absolutely most of politicians involved in wars, crimes etc.
People should have an opportunity to unite at least in sports as it was all the time. So lets put all of this politics talk away because it full of dirt and doesnt help to hockey at all.

Best bet is Matthews if he can stay healthy. He's actually scoring around the same pace as Ovi (too lazy to work numbers) but I have worries about his health long-term.
