Maybe I'm the oddball, but regardless of which team I root for, watching Ovi tie Gretzky and potentially making history tonight gives me goosebumps.

I'm way more in the minority than you but I admit I'm a bit of an asshole with this stuff but I really don't care about Ovi or the record and I still thought our fans giving him a standing ovation was a joke but I'm not very kumbaya when it comes to sports lol

Because its not your boy(nationality or team or both). What he is doing is good for hockey, what league is doing - isn't very good.

Meh. Im happy for not "my" boys. I m not an idiot to not see how someone doesnt do the same and trying to cover it by something.(and its prolong not so long because right after we are talking about elephants and pos). Im rooting for this team not because Mogilny or even Brylin(but because of Stevens) and not because of EA games. And I understand why someone cant cross this line. But it def-ly not my problem.

Thinking about someone as "pos" or not "pos" is a decision of specific people who are focusing or not focusing on some aspects. Someone call Stanley cup celebration of Ovechkin as show off, someone call it relief. It just depends on what exactly is in the head and what is allowed in that head.

And yeah, im happy for "my boy" too because he loved the whole league by breaking unbreakable and did it in style(39 yo, best game winning goals scorer, best 39 yo scorer(not Howe anymore), top-3 goal scorer in the league with broken leg), despite all the attempts and efforts to call him one trick pony and belittle his abilities. Among other things, Ovechkin's efforts are what makes things happen, and the attitude of all levels of organizational structures of hockey-entertainment relations.

But you know. He is playing. So... He shouldnt(from the angle of some people) but he is. So. We can agree here. Im very happy for him but Im not the one who would like to watch it against our team at all. I would like to watch it against rangers or against mtl.

Personally as the years go by I care less and less about the entire league and only watch the Devils unless it's the playoffs. Reading this thread is the most I pay attention to the rest of the league.

Even if I didn't think he was a pos I still wouldn't care because he's not a Devil but again I know I'm the minority here just like when I was posting here annoyed about the standing ovation our fans gave him a few seasons ago.

I've never been about the kumbaya bullshit when it comes to sports even though I'd rather the world be more kumbaya lol

Oh I would 100% rather it be a traditional goal for him but people were like oddly affected by it potentially being an ENG. Glad he agrees, blast a one timer through Sorokin and it'll be glorious.

Crazy thing is the Habs play up or down to their opponents, wouldn't be shocked if those bozos lose those next 4 randomly. Bruins probably also want to play spoiler with how big that rivalry is, just like we probably want to end the Rags season on Saturday or put it on absurd life support.
