1st in the league Vegas lost to the Isles Rangers and currently down to Preds, and scored a combined 1 goal against them so far

Like you mentioned, it just wasn't going to happen here. I think the relationship soured in a lot of ways between him and the team. The vaccine situation, the way his injuries were/weren't handled. He needed to mature, so a change of scenery where he could focus on his own game like San Jose was probably the best thing for him mentally.

I don't hold any ill will towards him either. Wish it would have worked out, but it is what it is.
