The worst team to make the playoffs each year (by points) in the new points format:
2005-06 Tampa Bay 92 points, -8 GD
2006-07 Islanders 92 points, +8 GD
2007-08 Nashville 91 points, +1 GD
2008-09 Anaheim 91 points, +7 GD
2009-10 Montreal 88 points, -6 GD
2010-11 Rangers 93 points, +35 GD! (Tampa had 103 points with a +7 GD that year too)
2011-12 Washington 92 points, -8 GD
---lockout, then division realignment---
2013-14 Dallas 91 points, +7 GD
2014-15 Calgary 97 points, +25 GD
2015-16 Minnesota 87 points, +10 GD
2016-17 Calgary 94 points, +5 GD
2017-18 Colorado 95 points, +20 GD
2018-19 Colorado 90 points, +14 GD
2019-21 COVID seasons shortened
2021-22 Nashville 97 points, +14 GD
2022-23 Florida 92 points, +17 GD; made the Finals lol
Washington wouldn't have the worst point total to make the postseason but unless someone above one of these teams in a given year was actually worse, they'd be the worst GD by a country mile.
The Washington Capitals are on pace to make the NHL playoffs despite sporting one of the worst goal differentials for a playoff team in over 30 years.

Apparently there are three teams with a goal difference of -24 and below to make the playoffs since 2001, two of them before the post-lockout time frame here and the 2011-12 Panthers with a -24 exactly
