Having sat in the crowd when Giguere “won” it, I don’t think the Conn Smythe should ever go to a losing team player. It’s awkward has hell and really isn’t good for the league when it happens because it puts a damper on the celebration.Bob now sitting at a .906 for the playoffs and .896 in the final. Even if Florida win in game 6 or 7 I feel like his shot at the Conn Smythe might be gone. Maybe it comes down to how he closes things out or maybe some clutch Barkov performance gets him the conn smythe. Hell give it to McDavid at this point
It’d be less awkward after Game 6 lolHaving sat in the crowd when Giguere “won” it, I don’t think the Conn Smythe should ever go to a losing team player. It’s awkward has hell and really isn’t good for the league when it happens because it puts a damper on the celebration.
But if McDavid goes off again and drags the Oilers to a Game 7 that might be an exception.
.906% is probably about average of even a little above average for this playoffs, unlike the days of Fleury’s similar numbers in the cup winning run in the 2009 playoffs.Bob now sitting at a .906 for the playoffs and .896 in the final. More concerning will be if the series is slipping away from him. He was shaky last night. Not only the goals he gave up but in half a dozen other instances he looked out of position, uncomfortable as to where the puck was or was tracking it poorly, or wasn’t reading or anticipating the play crisply. He simply did not look like a confident goalie last night and If he doesn’t return to form we can easily be looking at a game 7..906% is probably about average of even a little above average for this playoffs, unlike the days of Fleury’s similar numbers in the cup winning run in the 2009 playoffs.
But yeah, the Conn Smythe seems to be possibly evaporating, but sometimes they do lean towards the legacy player for the lifetime achievement factor. Like Crosby in 2016 or Niedermayer in 2007. But those also weren’t the first cup wins for those guys.
f*** that crybaby, he cried the whole series
In a sense it worked out because of the distance between Florida and Edmonton, but it would have been hilariously stupid if it was Florida and Dallas and they would have had the same schedule because MUH TV and gotta stay away from NBA nights when they also have the same schedule, at least until their series ended early. The extra day off between multiple games is f***ing stupid.
Brodeur shut them out in game 7 how does he not get the Conn Smythe .... that was a bullshit move.I was too busy booing Bettman to notice
