Not the same in the slightest. Igor completely dominated every level he’s ever played at and the Rangers had elite finishing talent and an elite PP. Hart is not Igor. The Flyers don’t have half the Rangers talent. They’re also getting crushed worse than the Rangers did. The Flyers are awful. I was high on the Rangers all of last year
I thought of last year’s Rangers team coming into the season as anywhere from a bubble team to a 500 team at worst.

I thought of this year’s Flyers team as a bottom-5 team.

It’s safe to say the Flyers are overachieving a TON more than the Rangers did.

They were a -85 shot on goal differential coming into tonight’s game. They are real time a -100 shot on goal differential as of the end of this period.

Their 39.2 CF% at 5 on 5 coming into tonight has to be a league worst. I don’t think it’s getting any better tonight.

The Arizona Coyotes are at 39.6%. The Flyers have somehow been worse than them. Even the Blackhawks are at 42%.

Those Sabres jerseys aren’t good, White tops/pants/gloves is just brutal. I can’t wait til they break out the red/black ones later this year though.

There’s a really bad goal on Samsonov to bring the Flyers to within one.

That’ll be softy of the night.

Granted, there's far less of a chance Hart keeps up his play than Igor has but we've seen goalies have fluke years too - Steve Mason, Jim Carey, etc

My point of bringing up the Rangers is more you don't have to exceed expectations for a full season, but if they do it long enough for the team to bring in reinforcements at the deadline the way the Rangers did then it could get dangerous (not so much in terms of them winning a Cup in this case, but more in terms of them being stiff competition for a playoff spot).
