In the Church of Salmela
Marchand is every bit as dirty as Wilson. He just isn't nearly as big so his antics usually aren't as devastating. This is another issue I have with the DoPS. They punish on result of the action, not how dangerous it was. Marchand and Wilson could both board someone. It's far more likely that Wilson will hurt someone doing it, so he will be punished more harshly than Marchand who likely won't hurt someone as often because he is much smaller.
lol or not punished at all

The most hilarious division is the Scotia North. Toronto looks like credible contender statistically, they are actually popping up as having the some of the best odds after Colorado, mainly because of their weak ass division. It’s real hard to gauge how Toronto will do against a strong opponent.

The odds for the MassMutual East teams are below the other heavy hitters partly because they aren’t quite as strong but also because there is more depth there. They’re evenly matched series. The Discover Central top three is real strong and that was pretty competitive division too, the Honda West was clearly top heavy though. That’s what you get by taking the worst teams from the weakest division, The Pacific.

It’s pretty wild without the Eastern and Western Conferences, teams getting favorable, or not favorable, match-ups in the 3rd round is going to be huge. And random. Boston’s problem is that they’re 10th overall so they would get Colorado in the 3rd round if they both advance (unless Toronto isn’t King of the North and then Colorado gets Canada).

Very weird to have the playoffs going on and Vancouver/Calgary still finishing up their regular season.

So as I type this, there is 7 minutes left in the second period and VAN is up on CAL 2-0. Aside from the fluke of playing in the afternoon out west, I’m guessing a fair number of VAN fans are conflicted about whether to root for a win. Something tells me that VAN is going to have a tricky time signing Quinn Hughes and Elias “Toast” Petterson. I’m sure VAN wants long term deals but their cap may preclude that.

They won’t trouble signing them both to some form of deals but long term deals for both isn’t probably possible and improvements, such as filling out the rest of the roster, is going to be a bit of a struggle.

And those games only being important for lotto position no less. Imagine this board if we were one of the several teams still sweating out those games, it was paranoid enough here when Vancouver only needed like two points in eight games lol.

The Canucks would pass the Kings and the Sharks with a win, going from 6th to 8th 7th to 9th. (I keep forgetting Seattle exists)

Calgary would jump from 12th to 13th if they win, pass the Coyotes and Blackhawks.

Does Vancouver winning affect our Lotto chances? I forget.

Wait, the Flames are playing Louis Domingue in goal? Sorry Canucks fans, no one is beating that tanking move.

I guess the Flames can win tomorrow when Demko doesn’t play.

Not at all...it does decrease their chances though with each team they pass. They are the only team I don’t want in the position to draft Luke.

I think they’ll go from #7 to #9 in the lottery if they win. And I think they can still pass Ottawa if they win their last game

If Sullivan gets fired next year, I wouldn't mind having him here.

I'm impressed with what he's gotten out of their younger players.

So I nailed Sorokin on two of the goals in game one as stoppable, but they were also very forgivable goals. I’m surprised they didn’t go back to him for this game. He allowed 3 goals on 40-something shots.

They played Varlamov tonight and my god, that first goal might be the softy of the playoffs so far. That was worse than any of those goals Jarry allowed the other day.

That reminded me of the Scott Stevens goal on Khabibulin in game 4 of the second round against the Lightning in 03. Torts put John Grahame in the next game for that one. Although I haven’t seen that goal in years, this one might have been worse.

He’s one of the best coaches in the league IMO. They couldn’t get it done in the playoffs for 5-6 years until they hired him.

And when they fired (I don’t even remember that nobody’s name that coached there for 1.5 years after Rutherford got hired in between Bylsma and Sullivan, but I can still remember his creepy face and goofy hairpiece) that one guy, it was suggested that Pittsburgh and Rutherford may be regretting passing over John Hynes for the head coaching job lol.

They just mentioned the Panthers have only won 3 home playoff games since their building in Sunrise opened in 1998. If my elementary math is right that means the Devils have won more playoff games there than the Panthers.

Is it my TV or is the crowd so muted for the FLA-TB game? I can't hear anything other than the stupid announcers. I can barely even hear the whistles.
