They just showed some stat about the last two times a team came back from a 2-0 lead and then went on to go up 3-2? The second to last time was in 2003? Really?

I clearly remember the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals with Vancouver going up 2 games to 0 and losing in 7.

I guess They led 3 games to 2 after 5 games though and Boston won the last two games? I guess that's how that happened.

shedding tears of joy, to me this is like better than if we won the cup
I HATE the Rangers, but I surely don't hate the Rangers more than I love the Devils. I'd take a cup win over this any day, but this is certainly a consolation prize.

I remember getting a lot of shit from a couple Devils fans and I bet they aren't even Devils fans anymore or possibly aren't even hockey fans at all anymore. I rooted for the Rangers in a game in 1996 (maybe even a couple games late that season) because it was beneficial to us for them to win those games to help us not miss the playoffs. I don't even remember who they were going up against in some of those games or if they won or lost. In fact, I don't even remember who wound up getting in the playoffs in the 8th seed that year over us. All I remember is the brutal regular season finale loss at home to Ottawa and Tom Chorske scoring a goal (maybe even 2?) for Ottawa. Gross.

I actually think the Rangers have played a (mostly) great series. Outside of game 3, they were BADLY dominated in that one.

But they owe a lot of debt on that Louis Domingue matchup. They very well wouldn't have gotten here with just some competent goaltending competition in that Pittsburgh series.

They're really coming around to collect on that first round debt right now.

Domingue was a disgrace. You could see it coming in game 3, NYR down 4-1 on the road and Domingue melted down and before you know it it was 4-4 (Pitt would put them away 7-4) but psychologically the Rags always knew they were never out of it or had that tough an uphill battle in games 5 and 6, that eventually we'll get our two daily softies and be back in this.

It was the Lightning’s history of falling 0-2 down and coming back to win the next three.

Lol. I remember. And it was vs Tampa who we were fighting for the 8 seed. Desperately needed a Rag win. Rangers led going into the 3rd and then just mailed it in. Lightning won

1996 was such an annoying year though couldnt complain too much as we had just won the Cup, but the fact that we had more pts than FIVE Campbell Conference playoff teams and missed the postseason, that just shouldnt happen in the NHL. At that point NJ's 86 pts I believe were the most in NHL history for a team out of the postseason

It was Tampa lol...we had a stupid high point total in a pre-shootout era for a team that missed too, like high 80's points. Now you can have 95 points (and higher) while missing because of all the extra points going around but then it was harder to miss with any kind of decent season, especially with fewer teams as well.

To wit, the Devils had 86 points in 1995-96 to be exact. FIVE teams out West that made the playoffs had fewer than that. And in '96-97 two teams made it out of the East with 77 points each so the bar was much lower a year later.

86. It was the most ever I believe at that time for a non playoff team. Five western teams with less pts than us waltzed into the playoffs
