They’re the 2 best goalies in the world
They absolutely are.

And it’s really showing in these playoffs.

I’ve seen it posted over and over through the years (one particular poster on this forum used to constantly tout it) that goaltending is irrelevant.

Colorado is the first team in a very long time to really make goaltending irrelevant on their way to the Stanley Cup Finals. Their goaltending was good in the regular season though.

They’ve went 12-2 with goaltending just barely 90%. The last team to go 12-2 into the SCF (2012 Kings) had a Conn Smythe winning goalie.

I’m getting insane flashbacks to our 2012 series with NYR, they go to distance the first 2 rounds, 2-2 series in the ECF with game 5 on their home ice. Hopefully Hagel or someone could become TB’s Ryan Carter in game 5 + 6.
Hagel and Paul played well these last 2 games. Tampa is also getting behind the Rangers forecheck by throwing the puck across ice and bumping it up fast off the center ice half boards for counter attacks. It caught the Rangers flat footed and has them back pedaling and that’s how Tampa got their 2 zip lead.

Tampa then played with the lead and rode Vasi. Stopped skating and attacking and clung to the lead, waited for mistakes and even got the 3d one.

The difference between this and game 3 was Tampa playing with a multi goal lead. They conceded a lot of puck possession while they went into that shell and they stopped attacking. Yet I think they can outsmart and out skate the Rangers now and will and have found the formula. Maybe they get the first goal again at MSG on Thursday? I make them the favorites now to win this series.

What a moment that Game 6 was. Up 2-0 just like 1994. Rags tie it with some lucky BS goals. White knuckle hockey and they win it right off the bat in OT. It was nice to see the Pru Center wasn't exactly teeming with Rag fans that night either. Whatever Rangers fans who did make the trip had visions of Messier and 94 and it just blew up in their face. Man were they humbled.

That 2012 Rangers team was overrated imho. Yea they had prime Lundqvist but they didn't have an offense that really scared you'

That series win, that was truly the end of the Devils as we knew them. That amazing 1993-2012 run. The end

If Strome Chytil and Goodrow are all out their next game the 2C probably becomes Copp and their 3C might be Kevin Rooney :laugh::laugh:. They might actually be forced to run11F 7D from lack of quality

Krieder - Zib - Vatrano
Panarin - Copp - Kakko?
Lafren - Rooney - Motte
Hunt - Reaves - ???

Sheshterkin would need to play the game of his life

I was holding my hat on the Rangers road woes + Vasy was bound to shine in this series, that being said you are right. If you're Gallant the message is so easy, win 2 out of 3 where you've been tremendous in this playoffs. Their injuries are gonna massive though if Chytil and Strome are out.
Somebody is going to win on the Road here, though.

And I am betting on the Bolts being that team in Game 5.

That won’t be their lineup. Gallant said Strome is day to day and he’s hopeful he’ll play game 5 and Chytil “should be fine.” Not exactly the clearest answers, but they’re putting those guys in the lineup unless they have significant injuries.

All I know is that the hockey these two teams are playing looks like trash compared to Colorado.
I think that WHEN (not IF) Tampa gets to the finals, they will play much better against the Avs.

They aren't the Defending Champions for nothing.

I think they're just playing down to their pathetic competition and need to stop that and just destroy them.

Hate to say it, but if Tampa turns over the puck as many times as they did last night the Rangers could win Game 5.

Was working last night and it's almost comical listening to the Tampa broadcast. Espo groans BEFORE the announcer tells you what happens.

They only did that repeatedly after they got the 2 goal lead and they didn’t do it at all in the first 19 minutes of the game.

But yes they need to return to a more focused game at MSG tomorrow. You have to presume the Rangers will come out flying and at full tilt. Knowing Tampa, it won’t surprise me to see Tampa parry and be conservative and play “a road game” for the first six or eight shifts tomorrow, let Vasi see the puck, don’t take penalties and look for their chance to counter.

Seriously.

All they need is to take Game 5 at the Garden which I think they will, and it's all she wrote for the Blue Skirts.
Nah I could see those ****heads actually losing Game 5, then winning 6…they love the underdog mentality
