The only thing that would worry me if I were Tampa was how lazy they were with some of their passes in their own zone. They were insanely sloppy at times

Absolutely right, they got away with some brutal turnovers tonight, rags will punish that in MSG if it continues

Shame on the people who thought this was over after 2 and a slam dunk for the Rangers

Yes, they can still win this series, but it won't be the cakewalk it looked like it could be after the first 2 games or god forbid a sweep.

I would say they should replicate game 3 more than this one on Thursday night.

Counting Tampa out before they lost a home game was idiotic.

I was holding my hat on the Rangers road woes + Vasy was bound to shine in this series, that being said you are right. If you're Gallant the message is so easy, win 2 out of 3 where you've been tremendous in this playoffs. Their injuries are gonna massive though if Chytil and Strome are out.

Tampa looked sloppy AF for large stretches, and generally have looked lethargic and gassed this entire series…

And yet the rangers have only managed to bring it back to MSG a tied series.

How anyone could watch how Colorado plays and then claim this rangers team is playing impressive hockey blows my mind. These are pedestrian performances getting boosted by lackluster competition.

Vasilevskiy is the only goalie probably in the entire playoffs that you can expect to compete with Shesterkin.

I’m not saying nobody else can beat him, but it’s about as even a goalie matchup you can get, unlike Shesterkin vs Raanta or Shesterkin vs Domingue (LOL).

In the end, a lot of us have seen Brodeur lose to the likes of Damian Rhodes, a washed up Tom Barrasso, Kevin Weekes, Bob Esche, Ray Emery and Brian Boucher. Not to mention some of the goalies Hasek lost to in the playoffs with Buffalo, although he did outplay some of them while losing. He lost to rookie Boucher and 28 year old rookie Johan Hedberg in playoff rounds.

So it’s not like Shesterkin will never lose a playoff round to someone average, but he’s been terrifyingly good and this year it looks like you either need Vasilevskiy or a real offensive powerhouse in Colorado.

Rags had so much luck and good fortune and breaks go their way in these playoffs, now up 2-0 and 2-0 in game 3 they were a hair away from putting Tampa away, and they let them up. They gave them a tiny sliver of life and now look at the monster they created. It's 2-2 and we're destined for 7. Even if worst comes to worst there is no way the Rags win three 7 game wars and then beat a rested and hungry Avs team. NYR is hitting the wall now anyway

They need to steal one at MSG.

Game 5, not game 7.

I think they can win the next two and take the series.

I’m not saying they will, but I think they can. They probably need to be a little better than tonight. I didn’t think the Bolts played quite as well as game 3, but maybe there were some score effects favoring the Rangers game in this game. They had the lead this about the entire game.

Which was still very new territory in this series. I think their first lead of the series was the game winner with under a minute left in game 3.

It would be kind of ironic if this went the same way the Carolina series went with the home team winning every game except Game 7.

Tampa scored first in Game 2, but it didn’t last long.

Rangers are so dependent on their (excellent) PP.

If these playoffs were called like they would been 5-10 years ago they would be home long since.

Forgot about that.

I think that was their only lead until the last minute game winner in game 3? I remember it was tied two times in game 1 before the Rangers ran away with it.

Not sure what Point's status is, I believe he's been skating or practicing (supposedly took warmups the other day) but if the Rags are without Chytil and Strome and Point returns, that's a huge huge deal.

They said on the broadcast that he's now skating every day. It's getting closer it seems

Yep. I even see now he participated in an optional morning skate today.

I'm thinking there's a good chance he plays game 5.

These are the two best goalies these playoffs for me.

I’ve only counted 7 goals stoppable on Shesterkin (the Kucherov goal tonight being the 7th and first of this series) and one of them I even nailed him on was because of a giveaway late in game 7 of the Carolina series, where the shot going in didn’t look bad, but his error led to the chance/shot. I think I only counted 2 in that series. That one and the pretty weak one he allowed in I think it was game 3? They won that game, but he got a softy of the night for it. The first 4 were against Pittsburgh where Louis Domingue had 8.

That’s not quite 15% of his goals where I think my average is 29.35%, unless I counted the actual total goals wrong, which sometimes happens since the league already keeps tracks of the actual goals allowed so I don’t have to.

I have Vasilevskiy for 8, which is 22% of his.

I have Colorado’s goalies combined for 33%, although Kuemper is a respectable 29% which was below average until this round started and Smith and Francouz (and him with 1) racked up quite a bunch. Francouz with 40%.

Pretty sure Louis Domingue’s 42% is the worst, unless someone else might have only played relief and a small sample size had a higher percentage.

Domingue still has more than Shesterkin and the same number as Vasilevskiy and they’ve played two more rounds. And Shesterkin even played more in that series than Domingue did.

Domingue had a real Jon Gillies playoffs. I can’t believe he had an .898% and not an .880%.
