For sure. That was a 19 year old play right there haha. Not a worry though, that's a development point. He was in the right general area, just a lack of focus, physicality, and a junior habit waiting for the puck to break free.

I honestly think Turcotte-Byfield have enough speed & will to possibly drag Brown to a respectable end of his career.

Byfield, Madden and Vilardi all look good, but this Jordan Spence is impressive. I dunno who he compares too and he's not a top pairing NHL defensemen, but he's a good player who should make it to the show at some point.
Yup, another strong game by the whole team all-together. That kid line has been incredible. Vilardi playing on Byfields wing has really helped him just create and not worry about all the responsibilities. Madden with another beautiful goal. Really liking his game. And yes Spence is the best Dman with the Reign I believe. He's just taken the reign(no pun intended) since Durzi's call up and run with it. Not sure where he will be with the Kings but always a good thing to have is D depth.

It's going to be an absolute battle to earn a spot on the right side defense over the next few seasons. I think Madden is really benefitting from the space Vilardi and Byfield are getting him. He's kind of become the forgotten prospect because he missed most of last season w/the broken collarbone. But he's a good player.

Let's not overlook Madden's growth here too, dude has come on strong lately. Nice to see.

Yes he's really taken over the role since Durzi got called. Spence was QMJHL defenseman of the year, made it to the WJC roster as a 4th rd pick and in his first pro season has 16pts in 25 gms. His impressive rise keeps going and he passes the eye test too. Rarely makes a mistake, runs the PP and is just a very solid player.
I guess you kind of expect Byfield and Vilardi to dominate so when they control shifts it's great but you figure they should be doing that. So while say Byfield is obviously the superior player, I keep thinking to myself... damn this Spence kid is good.

One of the things that most excites me about Byfield is that everytime he shows up on the score sheet he's doing it a different way.
Scoring off the rush. Scoring down low. Tic Tac Toe passing. Goal mouth pass to the open man on the opposite side.
He's just finding ways to make a difference.

AND ANOTHER THING...
he's starting to show how dangerous his wingspan can be offensively. I desperately want to know what the range of motion is from the tip of his stick when he puck handles to the left to the tip of his stick when he handles to the right because at least one of his goals down low was 100% because his reach was just longer than the goalies legs.

He's an incredible player, and has been for years. I remember I was prepping articles for the 2019 draft, and I see this 16 year-old beast of a kid outskate everyone on the ice WITH the puck. He didn't even slow down. He didn't score. But I immediately texted Hoven and said "dude. Watch out for this kid. If the Kings get a high pick, I would be ecstatic if they got him."
