They didn't trade Faber

It was Madden and Vancouver's 2nd in 2020 for Toffoli. The Kings then traded Vancouver's second (along with the Kings 2020 4th) for Faber. So they essentially traded Madden and Faber for 17 games of Toffoli.

Madden is just Tyler Toffoli but with high level skating. Hes an NHL lock along with Kupari, Madden with top 6 potential. Kaliyev will produce for sure but it will all come down to how much defence he want to play. Last game he was 2 strides behind his man as they both coasted into the slot for a cross ice feed, only needed a couple of extra strides to get infront of his man but made no attempt. Hopefully he figures it out but its reminiscent of a Kovalchuk style of defence.

So they didn't trade Faber nor the pick used to select Faber.

They traded a pick that Blake packaged with another asset to move up and get Faber.

Benning could have just stayed where he was at that pick and took anyone besides Faber.

It's not that but rather the trade doesn't need to be made to sound worse than it was for Vancouver or better than it was for us: it already rocks without having to say it was Madden and Faber.

It was Madden and Faber for us. Vancouver fans can say whatever they'd like about it, but in the grand scheme of things, the Kings got Madden and Faber for Toffoli.

Can you bring this up the next 17 times I have to hear about Barzal or Connor or any other player the Kings “coulda drafted”?

It wasn't. It was Madden and Vancouver's pick. Blake then turned that + into Faber.

Vancouver fans can be bummed about Madden but they have no idea what human being they gave up with the pick. Obviously Madden is bad enough but we don't know if Faber is there for them or if they even take him with the pick if they didn't trade it.

Major kudos to Blake for using that pick and the fourth to strike on the guy they liked. Pick was panned a bit at the time but looks very good right now.

Not to hop on the pedantic parade, but it was Toffoli & 4th for Madden and Faber ;)

No it wasn't ;)

If we want to get pedantic, here was the full trade:

And here's the Faber trade:

I am on board for those who think it was Madden, 2nd rounder and conditional 4th.

That we used some picks for Faber, should not be included.
But the pick that was used to select Faber was obtained in the same trade as Madden.

It's like Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker. One was a princess and a Senator while the other way a poor desert farm boy. Ultimately what matters is that they both came out of Padme's vagina , so they are brother and sister.

Yes 100% true, great example too. It looks like Blake did well.

However now I read Vancouver traded 10 games of Tyler Toffoli for Faber and Madden and I am against that.

Gonna side with the pedants on this one, to say Vancouver gave up Faber doesn't factor in the difference in scouts. Who knows who they'd have drafted with the pick, at the time of the trade they had no idea who would be on the board at the time. What if Faber busts but the guys taken after him are Allstars? Or vice versa? Does that make the trade better or worse?

I spy Turcotte at Reign practice.

Wonder what number he's going to wear when he hits the big leagues. I'd like iaFAILo to give him number 19. Vilardi to Turcotte to Kaliyev.....and he scores!!!! Dayum that sounds good. Please hockey Gods we don't have jack just this once.

I always include who picks turned into when discussing trades, and pedants can eat my butt.

We dealt Gretzky to St. Louis for the fast guy with the stone hands, the shittier Vopat, the french guy who played eight minutes in the NHL, the huge sucky first-round whiff, and some dude named Hogan.

Not interested in your butt, but...

St.Louis traded;
The fast guy with the stone hands, the shittier Vopat, the french guy who played eight minutes in the NHL, a dude named Hogan, a 1st and 5th rounder.

Just because we sucked at drafting, does not mean the Blues made out like bandits. Well eventually they did, because at spot 15 [Zultek] not much was left in 1997 and the rest was crap.

Now it is the other way. Just because we picked Faber, does not mean Vancouver would have.

I hope you get the point.
