Maybe NOW it can't get worse?

I'm with @BigKing , these guys need one night of f***ing Slap Shot style absolute physical purge shitshow fight

Between the score, Madden's injury, the annoying announcer and the PbP guy continuously saying how Bakersfield had to 'fight through adversity' in the second period, I'd have to agree that it can't get any lower than this xD

All this talent why is it not working?
Edmonton is a good example of why talent doesn't always work out. I think it's still too early to write these guys off. Lot of new players and a new coach. Gonna take some time...

I had to shut off the game. There’s nothing positive to take away from it. Maybe all the kids are miserable because they’re at America’s shithole: Bakersfield.

I bought AHL.tv also and just can’t even watch.

It’s a development league they say? The results don’t matter as much as the play of future players? Cool fair enough, the problem is players that should look way better just don’t look the part . Yes it’s pro hockey, it’s a step up from juniors and the NCAA but it’s a long long way from the NHL, plenty of future high end NHL players seamlessly transitioned from juniors or the NCAA to this level, why is it not happening here?

Jeff Carter and Mike Richards went straight from junior hockey to being dominant players in the AHL during a playoff run.

Zach Werenski was 19 and immediately jumped from the NCAA to being a superstar at this level.

Is that to much to ask for these guys? Are they just not as good as we had hoped?

Is the problem coaching, is the jump from the USHL to the AHL to much for Wrobkewski?

What a disaster all around.

How has Byfield and Kaliyev been looking. Is the AHL to much for them? Would it do them good to head back down to the OHL. Feel bad for Byfield if he has to quarantine for the 3rd time this year.

I hate to be this guy but it has to be coaching, right? All of the talent in the world. Rookie coach.

Could be coaching for the amount of goals being given up.

Can't just keep blaming other things though for the lack of production from certain players.

Byfield, Kaliyev and Turcotte are the Kings 3 best prospects in the organization (I've graduated Bjornfot), they project as half of the Kings future top 6, they have played a combined 32 games and have 2 goals and combine as a -22. That is disgusting and it's giving them a pass by blaming anyone but them.

Fagemo now has 5 goals, 4 assists in his 12 games. It was said over the Summer, that Samuel was penciled in on the Kings...but of course, they added Anthanisiou and Andersson too. They think highly of him. He turns 21 next week. He will get his shot in time.

It's certainly stressful seeing our highly-touted prospects looking average at best, but I'm hesitant to blame anyone for anything this year. The Reign only have 5 returning players from last year's roster (that played 30 or more games): Eyssimont, Sutter, Byron, Imama, and Durzi. They also have a new coach and system to go along with COVID.

How different would the Reign look if the defense consisted of Bjornfot, Anderson, Clague, and Strand? What if Brickley and Durzi were the bottom pair? And what if Petersen was still playing down there?

I don't mean for this to be an excuse, but the defense and goaltending for Ontario is barely even AHL replacement-level. For as promising as our forward prospects are, hockey is a team sport, these kids can't do everything. I'm more interested in them getting reps, doing the little things right, and making their way to LA.

Missed the last couple but from the games I've seen they actually dominate possession, enter the zone easily and create good chances. They just seem to struggle to adjust to a higher level of goal tending from the opposition and the opposition gets 1 high danger chance and buries it after 10 minutes of constant reign pressure.

A little adversity might not be the worst thing IF they can get through it and come out the other side, it would be a great bonding opportunity to turn around a start like this with a collective improvement from the whole team.

Passing judgement on first-year pros after 12 games is f***ing nuts. Especially players who shouldn't even be playing in the AHL, on a team where almost half the players are rookies. Even though their record sucks, it's not like they are getting outplayed. Seriously....

Pretty much and can be said for almost every one of their games so far. Red line to opponents end they've been good. Red line to their end, it's been a complete disaster.

Isn’t that what an evaluation league is for-to evaluate? I get what you are saying but at some point you want to see results too. This start is highly unexpected. It is a very atypical year granted tho. Don’t think anyone should just be given a free pass.

I would love to see who is passing judgement. I see people analyzing their play but nobody is passing judgement.
The Reign have absolutely sucked so far this year. Physically, mentally and record wise. They quit on plays. They don't play sound hockey. It's okay to discuss it.

Yup, it's evaluation. But that is unfair apparently.

It's also interesting how when things are going well people are fine with "passing judgement" on young players but when things are going poorly they aren't.

Bjornfot makes the NHL at 18, plays very well in the AHL at 18 and looks like a 10 year veteran in the NHL as a 19 year old and gets hyped up (he should be)

Anderson jumps directly from the NCAA to pro hockey at 20 and doesn't miss a beat, at 21 he has been of the Kings better players this season. Looks like a future fixture as a top 4 d-man and gets hyped (he should be)

Fagemo scores at every level he plays, and looks like he is transitioning smoothly to the AHL and he gets hyped up (he should be)

Kupari plays well enough coming off a serious ACL injury that he is the best player on the AHL team at 20 and gets an NHL call-up before his 21st birthday and he gets hyped up (he should be).

Turcotte has a 1-7-8 offensive stat line in 28 combined conference/AHL games the last 2 seasons since being a top 5 pick and criticizing it is "rushing to judgement"

Quite interesting how it works out.

Adversity is good, at least. Can’t learn if you don’t fail. Could be a blessing in disguise - learn to hate losing, just like the Kings did pre-cup.

Providing context isn't giving free passes, though.

Holy f***ing cherry picked dishonesty batman.

You were giving me an absolute MOUNTAIN of bullshit for pointing out Turcotte had 19 points in 15 games when healthy so you doing the exact opposite and literally jumping over stretches of good play so you can point out the bad is a really, really bad look and not going to help you pretend you're having 'good faith discussion' about certain prospects.
