One reason why your team will go deep and one reason why they won't

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Oilers

Deep run. God mode for McDrai

Early exit is about a dozen issues but all will come down to goaltending.

For whatever reason, players come to Edmonton to be absolute passengers.

Oilers are two fold.

Team actually has to show up to games and give a fack. If they get lazy and play uninspired hockey like they did to start the year or after the 4 nations cup then it won't matter if McDavid and Drai are putting up record numbers.

Goaltending is also a potential issue as it should get tougher to outscore your opponents in the playoffs when your goalie isn't playing well.

Leafs, because they've played lazy in March and have likely given up the Division #1 spot. They've decided losing against Florida or TB in the first round is preferable to playing against a WC team.

:thumbu: JEE, Brodin and Kaprizov come back fully rested, reigniting the team's offense and beefing them up defensively.

:thumbd: Players above come back, look rusty, still not fully healthy, and the aging Spurgeon has a nagging injury. Before you know it, they have lost in the 1st round, again.

Leafs:

Win: The core finally shows up for a full playoff. (Not betting the farm on it)
Lose: Same old same old.

Jets

Will- Connor and Ehlers show up, Helly plays like it is regular season

Won't - If we get Playoffbuck and Connor/Ehlers no show

Kings

Will: emergence of Byfield's two-way dominance at C finds the team 5-1 with the "HFKings dream lineup" that includes benching Lewis and playing Clarke/other kids reasonable minutes has them working with a balanced lineup that has, for the first time in a long time, a legitimately deadly scoring line (Byfield-Fiala-Kempe/Laferriere) and great depth (Turcotte-Jeannot-Helenius is WORLDS better than Lewis-anything). Kuemper is playing like a Vezina finalist. D-pairs have finally found their fit with Doughty slowly rounding into form and for the first time in his career we CAN balance out minutes amongst pairings (but we won't, lol). Hope springs eternal, dare to dream.

Won't: these guys turn into deer in headlights the moment they see ANY kind of adversity, choking is in our DNA. Oilers in 4. Reality is a bitch, buy good whiskey.

Caps good: Great scoring depth, good D top to bottom.

Caps bad: They need to stop waiting until the 3rd period to pick up their game and put opponents away. That will likely become harder in the playoffs.
