Post-Game Talk: Habs lose 6-4 to Flyers

Woke up pissed off from yesterday's game. I'm not going to watch tonight, too much emotion and disappointment lately.

Disgusting f***ing game, Lane Hutson is by far our best player and he's a f***ing rookie. If it wasn't for him, we'd be below Buffalo this season.

Our fourth line of Heineman - Evans - Armia... absolutely insignificant. Scratch Armia if he's playing injured for f***'s sake. Where the f*** is Heineman?

Matheson? The hell is he doing out there fumbling the puck so f***ing much. I guess you got to take the good and the bad with him, but what a f***ing game to piss off multiple times.

So many shots sponsored by NASA and SpaceX last game, you'd think Scott Gomez was training our players. Josh Anderson is culprit #1 or #2 in this department, plus his f***ing stupid and selfish penalty to make it a 5 on 3. You dumb. Just embarrassing to lose to the Flyers in that fashion, beyond angry this morning.

Carolina tonight will be a shit show, seriously what can you realistically expect from the current play of this team.
Tough night last night for sure...................that said if nothing else, these guys are resiliant if nothing else.
No quit in this group....They are exactly where we all hoped they would be, literally in the mix.

I get it............I am beyond frustrated recently also.

I did not watch the game, but I saw the result and Dobes in the net and I thought, he must have been terrible after such a long break.
But then I watched highlights and my reaction was: WTF Savard, Matheson, Carrier, Evans WTF.
True veteran leadership
They left him out to dry on several goals................brutal team play.
Dobes actually saved their bacon from being totally embarassed........made several big saves in the 2nd and 3rd........but when the damn broke it broke.
Dobes needs to play a little more so he is not so rusty.............look at when he came up, he was playing and lights out after playing so well for Laval.
Monty was real solid, until he got tired.
Last night it was not the goaltending that got us in trouble it was our D and our d zone coverage.....Evans and Roy leaving guys wide open in front etc

My brother just got me tickets to the Flyers game on April 5th for my birthday. I haven't been to a game since 2018! I was thinking it would be a wild atmosphere coming down to the wire keeping our WC2 spot. But can we be already eliminated by then?

Nope.........we will still be in the mix!! Enjoy the game!!!!!!! Habs will not get beaten again by those guys.
I have a few buds who are going to that same game, flying up from NS and the atmosphere will be great.

Four games between now and April 5th, so no, they won't be eliminated. But, by then, there should be a few more points separating the teams still in the race.

The type of game they played last night is exactley what drives the fans nuts, how could you be so polar opposite of how you were playing just recently, the reselience tag becomes laughable,i too could care less about tonights game because deep down i know they obviously just don't give a shit about being consistent and the "tired" excuse is getting pathetically OLD,this team is so fu##king mismanaged between playing Monty to much ,or not enough playing time for Dobes, or playing Armia when he obviously is playing injured ,over playing Matheson, over punishing X the list goes and on and on......Again,Rookie coaching staff for a complete rebuild is just plain stupid but then again the GM is a rookie as well but God forbid you question any of his many wrong decisions.Three years in and what have we really decisively accomplished ? we basically have one somewhat solid line and the rest is meh .

They care...they are simply spent.
For some reason folks cannot wrap their heads around that the team is just not good enough yet. We finished 27th last year? And the same team is supposed to be a contender the next? I am happy as I see improvement out of most of the young players, see much more flow and pressure in a lot of games and see our prospects coming. Nothing happens overnight and folks need to learn to enjoy the process. We have improved and will improve next year and the year after, enjoy it for Pete's sake, savor it! They absolutely care and have for the most part played their hearts out, good teams can afford to coast a little, we haven't had that luxury and it is starting to show.

Thank you! I'm excited! The last game I went to, which was also my first game ever live, was the game against the Capitals on Nov 1 2018 who had just won the Stanley Cup in June. KK scored his first goal (and second!), Domi scored his first goal with us, Gallagher scored twice, and Armia scored in the shortest time ever between two goals (4 seconds), Ovechkin scored twice (and it was fun to see him!) And were were trailing 4-3 with 3 minutes left and pulled out a victory 4-6. It was a like a dream!

That was very well said, sir. We tend to hold our goalies to a much higher standard than the players in front of them. The Carey Price years spoiled everyone and were not an accurate representation of what a goalie should have to do for a team to win consistently.

I have read that Monty is a bum, a sieve, he's tired all while the poor bugger stopped 15 shots in a period and held us close in games that should have been blowouts.

Hockey is a team game, and what we saw last night and in St. Louis was not a team playing for each other just a few individuals out there going through the motions. We do lack talent, but when this team decides to work together as a group, they can beat anyone in the league, and we know it to be true because they have shown us that very thing this season.

I hope the separating is with us high and others low! But looking a little bleak right now. Still if we haven't been eliminated it should be fun!

One of the worst coaching jobs of MSL's career last night.
Line combos or matchups?

I missed the 1st period but I thought the challenge was worthwhile and we got screwed on the review, but I'm used to it. I thought the defensive matchups were pretty bad, but almost everyone had an off night.

I didn't hear Xhekaj's name until late in the 3rd, weird.

What a pile of rot, isn't Philadelphia the team that is suppose to be garbage? How did Montreal get in a playoff position? The league must really be decrepit.
Lets not forget Philly has been ahead of Mtl up until late February… They since let go of Frost, Farabee, Laughton and lost Ristolainen and Hathaway to injuries.

Worst goal was the one allowed by Ersson on Caufield.

Legit question:
How many active NHL coaches who were NHL players have made for good coaches? Active ones.

The only guy I can think of is Brind'amour.

It seems, to me (but am totally willing to change my position on this), that ex NHL players generally do not make good NHL coaches but tend to be the first in line for those positions. Especially player friendly ones.

5 active head coaches who spent at least some time playing in the NHL have won Stanley Cups as head coaches (Berube, Laviolette, Sullivan, Cassidy, and Bylsma).

7 active coaches who spent at least some time playing in the NHL have won the Jack Adams award (Tocchet, Roy, Ruff, Montgomery, Brind’amour, Bylsma, and Cassidy).

I believe 21 of the 32 current coaches spent some time playing in the NHL, of course some had better careers than others like St Louis and Roy.

Our defence – or lack of it – killed us. Blatant missed assignments and missed outlet passes. Dobes was shaky at times, and the lousy coverage in front of him didn't help.

Give Dobes more experience. Add Guhle and Reinbacher. The same game would have very different results.

People assume that every year... That's why it's an upset whenever an 8th seed does win (as infrequently as that may occur(
Depends on the 1st & 8th seeds.

For example I have way more confidence with an upset involving STL in the west. They are a good 8th seed team & firing on all cylinders.

Habs/NYI/NYR/etc will have to play WSH or one of the Atlantic teams. That is such a heavy mismatch. Only team I can see pulling off an upset is NYR strictly because of sheshterkin. The rest don't stand a chance

The first two goals killed us we gave a bad team the belief that they could beat us.
Joshua Roy and Jake Evans have to be much better and were directly responsible with NO coverage.

This is not even close to playoff quality hockey where one lapse can cost you a game.
Do we need to can some Bell Centre atmosphere and pipe it into the dressing room to get these players to go all in? What happened to the short 45 second give it your all and get off the ice shifts?

I'm not sure what happened to that aggressive we are playing with house money approach.
Both times we've touched a wild card position our game has gone to shit because we've changed our aproach and opted for a passive defensive posture. I've hated the game plan ever since that Islander's game.
