OT: One More Off Topic Off Season Thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Pigeons don't know any better.
True, but sometimes I wonder. ;)

At least it kind of blended in with bronze, sort of looked like brown face. Pigeon shit is greenish white and very noticeable.:D

At any rate, wish they'd catch the fools and make them clean all the Boyle Street bathrooms for a week as punishment.

Gives me the creeps just watching that. I'm not really super claustrophobic, but I got caught once basically upside down in a tight spot fixing my boat, and there was no one around to help, and ever since then I'm leery of tight spaces. Have to go to my happy space just to get thru an MRI now.

I’m going to assume a long life isn’t in the future of any of these people.

Pretty sure that someday, they're going to find some of these down there.

Couldn’t pay me to go into places like that. Your post made me recall this sad story about a guy whose remains are still entombed in a narrow crevice somewhere in Utah.

Anyone else play vintage NHL games?

I'm not into how involved newer games are, nor the price of the systems to play them as I consider myself a casual gamer at best. Naturally my favourite system is my N64 which I brought over from Canada.

NHL99 just came today in the mail, and the ganeplay is miles better than my NHL Breakaway 98 game as you can wind up your shot and release at your desired strength, the graphics are a bit better, and body checks are much easier to make and far more brutal. The only negative I've seen so far is that there's no CPU decisions on trade proposals as well as player ratings nit being assigned numbers but on a "bar" system. This makes it difficult to create fair value trades as a player like Gretzky seems to have the same bar rating as Kelly Buchberger.

Anyways, I did my best to make trades to shape up my roster at the start of the season and decided to stick with Oilers alumni only and here's what I've got

Smyth-Weight-Guerin (already were on my roster)
Kovalenko-Gretzky-Carter
Moreau-Marchant-Grier (ode to the MGM)
Cleary-R. Murray-Laraque

Coffey-Mironov
Hamrlik-Olausson
Souray-J.Smith

Salo
Roloson

I feel like I have a good combination of offense and PKers with a pretty balanced defense.

Once I finished all my trades and was editing my lines I found out Gretzky got injured in his first game of the season for the Rangers so I've had to elevate Rem Murray to the top line and slotted in Scott Thornton at 4C.

Mods can delete if this is too political, here's a story about PM Carney.

Mr. Burns looking ass.

Not sure if posted already, but Pods giving a tour around the facilities. Haven't seen an in depth tour like this - shows why Jones had his jaw on the floor when he first came to the team.

Yeah that’s a good vid.
Oilers have come a long way since the Sather days…and post Sather days for that matter.
I remember hearing Pronger complain that he couldn’t lift a barbell above his head when he’d work out at Rexall cause the gym was shit.

Why does it seem like all donair joints use sliced cheese for their donairs these days!!??!?
Used to be a day when they used shredded cheese or curds which to me completes the donair and actually helps hold it together.

Anyone aware of some affordable neighbourhoods that are still predominantly….Canadian? Grew up in Laurier Heights and it was so pleasant and I’m a firm believer that demographics played a huge part in that. With that said, I won’t be able to buy my first home there unless it’s small/old. Any suggestions? Lynnwood?

Caroline, Alta. I believe it has just what you're looking for. Small little town, population - white.
