OT: One More Off Topic Off Season Thread

Both were in the same vicinity. The Paramount (also a beautiful theatre, was considered the nicest in the west when it opened in the early '50's) was at 10233 Jasper Ave (believe a church was in it's location until a few years ago), while The Strand was located at 10209 Jasper Ave (it was demolished in the late 70's). Lots of nice theatres (Varscona, Garneau, Princess, Rialto, Odeon) in town at the time. While not as nice, our hangout as a kid was Studio 82 on a Saturday afternoon, watching double feature Godzilla movies, while mice ran up and down the aisles.

I remember Studio 82 showed soft core porn at one time. Are you sure you were watching Godzilla?

Somewhere there is a joke in there about the public transportation being much simpler and cheaper

Honestly, I wish we had a strip somewhere in Edmonton with those nice neon signs. Just gives a different vibe and feeling when you see that stuff.

Terrible tragedy in the UK. Since the suspect is 17, I doubt we get confirmation of the demented f*** responsible for this. For some reason the media and authorities are not calling this a terrorist attack.

We have a guy who drives around in the neighborhood in a big truck that plays the same sort of music but he is selling knife sharpening services. I think the guy should be arrested for cruelty to children. (And by children I mean me. )

Damn good memories there. I’d add the Capitol (Jasper Ave) and Roxy (124 St) to the list.
And when you were bold enough to try to have an underage drink, you could try the Sahara theatre and restaurant (and bar).
