That someone who is older than me medaled at these Olympics gives me hope.

I remember looking some of this up and shooting, archery, and equestrian Olympians seems to be where it's at for being old and going to the games. Better start practicing.

Ledecky's swim in the 800 free final was bonkers.

She had a 0.6M lead over Australian Ariarne Titmus at around the 550M mark. At that point, her coach seemed to stand up and whistle to Ledecky. I say that because after he whistled, she dropped the hammer and over the next 100M, she extended the lead to around 2.6M and the race for Silver was closer than the race for Gold after that point.

And for the first half of the race, the commentators kept talking about how Titmus was strong over the last 200M and Ledecky needed a big lead to hold her off. It did not play out that way.

Kiwi gold in kajak cross.
Yep. Just woke up to hear this on the morning news. I'll check out the replay this morning.

Also we had three girls make the pole vault final which is ridiculous. It's crazy we have enough pole vaulters to get that many in the Olympics let alone the final.

You USians have Ledecky. Our golden girl gets underway tonight (our time). Funnily enough they took away her staple gold event, the K1 200. Guess what they replaced it with? The Kayak Cross. So NZ still got to have that gold anyway.
