Those saying that we choked are afraid to admit that Canada was just a better team. They have more talent and they showed it today. I agree that I thought that we played poorly today, but Canada was better. We didn't choke, we were beat by a better team.

That's why i said we should just disagree.

It's fine if you stand by it, that's your opinion and I can dig that. I would hope you stood by your opinion. I just strongly disagree with it, and just wanted some explanation as to why you said that in the first place when he's been called one of the more clutch players on the team.

No need for anyone to go to the hawks boards or anything, we're just having a friendly conversation.

Im just saying, you think no blackhawks fan would say that, so I'm saying you could go see for yourself what blackhawks fans would say.

I didn't say he was a dog, I didn't say he is a choker, or can't win the big one. I said I have noticed a tendency where he isn't going, when his team needs him in playoff or tourney situations. I don't post much, so Im not gonna go to the Blackhawks board and ask them. But it really would be the way to go, I'm curious to hear what they'd say.

But being said, Im content with having a friendly convo with you and leaving things as they are hahaha.

Well, its official, we are a nation of hockey chokers. Both genders. 3 players showed up today. No respect for Canada either who neutral zone trapped their way to the most boring Olympic semifinal in a long time. They played scared of the US, and yet the US let them. Pathetic.

This. Canada looks entirely underwhelming, especially when considering all of that firepower on that roster.

I hope Sweden wipes the floor with them

If you play poorly, or in other words fail to perform in the biggest game when the pressure is at its highest, then that is by definition choking. That's exactly what the US did today. Hats off to the Canadians, they came prepared to play with a game plan. The US did not. That's why Canada deserved to win.

Here's what I'll say about the Bronze that I think alot of us can agree on: I'm sure McDonagh wants it, and I think we all wanna see him come home with it. Let's root for McDonagh tomorrow.

And Callahan too of course but there's nothing like the first medal.

And Stepan even though he's not as awesome

I know we're disappointed in the color, but we got Rangers in this game tomorrow that I know want this thing and are gonna play their rumps off for it. Let's get behind them.

Lol national pride everywhere clouding judgement. Kane isn't a no show. It's a tournament, some players shine, others don't. US didn't choke, Canada too stiff on D, back check, puck possession and cycling. Canada didn't look bad despite the lack of goals. Quick and the defence played really well against the best of the best. Sweden isn't going to mop the floor against Canada. How do you mop the floor against that team?

Despite my disappointment, I will get behind this. I will say that winning for a bronze feels a lot different than losing for a silver. I know silver is obviously better but still.

Just finished the game McDonagh was great.

Saw Callahan hasn't learned from his "charge into the corner" move like he did against Pittsburgh when he left James Neal wide open to tie it.

It wouldn't hurt as much losing for Silver against Sweden as it does to continuously lose to the Canadians.

I'll root for them tomorrow, sure. Still, the game means little to me and the bad taste in my mouth from tonight will remain and vividly so.

I thought Cally was one of the better US forwards in the game, although, that probably speaks more about the others then it does him.

Don't post much, but here are my thoughts of the game:

1) The US did not choke in my opinion. Did they play their, best game? No, but I don't think they choked. Canada was the better team coming into the game (on paper) and the better team today. They reminded me of the pre-lockout NJ Devils. It was extremely frustrating to watch, but hats off to them. They played better than the US.

2) Blaming Patrick Kane for the United States offensive woes is wrong. Was he an effective player today? No. Was he effective this entire tournament? Not really. But to me, he is not the type of person that you build your offense around. The US doesn't really have much of a choice, as he is their most skilled player. But in a tournament like this, he is a complimentary player, albeit an extremly talented one. Chicago is built around Jonathan Toews, not Patrick Kane, and you saw why this tournament.

3) To me, when I look at the teams and the types of players that the US and Canada develop, two things really stick out to me. The first is that the centers that Canada produce are far superior to those that the United States produce. Look at Canada's center depth, than look at the United States' center depth. Crosby, Toews, Getzlaf, Duchene (and injured Tavares) vs. Kesler, Backes, Pavelski, Stastny (and scratched Stepan). Canada's center depth is head and shoulders above that of the US. Not a single US center would make Canada over the centers listed. Canadas centers also make other players they play with better. Hell, Chris Kunitz was basically Sidney Crosby's second carry on bag to Sochi.

4) The other aspect that Canada is doing better at pumping out is elite level defenseman. Ryan McDonagh and Ryan Suter might be able to crack team Canada, or are at least on par with most of the Canadian defenseman. After that, the US defense has a significant drop off in talent. The Canadians smoothered the US defensively today. The US had 0 sustained forecheck and pressure. Like I said, tough to watch as a US fan.

5) As for goaltenders, the US does a great job. How bad would the US have lost to day if not for Quick? He played lightsout. Goaltending like the US has will give them a chance to win any game, as great goaltending is the great equalizer. In the areas listed above, the United States is getting much better. They need to keep producing defenseman like Suter and McDonagh. I'm excited for the future of US hockey.

6) Lastly, people ripping Bylsma I don't get. He is a great coach. He can coach my team any time.

All that said, time to drown my sorrows with some adult beverages tonight. Cheers guys.

Just hoping for no injuries to the ranger in the gold and bronze game. As for the US ay today, they did not at their best. Still could have won. As for Cally, he continues to show he is a good not great player. He is valuable in the playoffs because of his grit. Not
Worth 7 million though and if he will not resign before trade deadline and someone is willing to give a first rounder and a good prospect I think we should trade him.

The US women's team choked. Ahead 2-0 with 5 minutes to go and then losing is a choke.

The men's team didn't choke. They were outplayed by a more talented offensive team and Canada's defense was more than marginally better than our own. The Canadian team up until today had kind of underachieved. I didn't expect they would today and they didn't. If there is one team the Canadians really don't want to lose to it's the United States team. The United States had to come with their best game and they didn't. They got hemmed into their own zone--outworked on the forecheck and outworked physically. Past the first few minutes of the game Canada had a big edge territorially. They worked the puck in deep and cycled with regularity. Our forays into their zone were turned back against us a lot more swiftly.

We should beat Finland tomorrow. I expect Canada will win on Sunday though I hope Sweden does.

I don't get all the praise for Dan "Crosby. Malkin, Letang, can't get out of round 2" Bylsma. Babcock made him look like Jean-Guy Talbot today....minus the track suit. It wasn't even close.

I wouldn't say the American's "choked" because of the talent on Canada's roster. And it was a 1 goal game that was faiiiiirly even 5-on-5.

But this was a huge disappointment for the program, no doubt.
