Good thing playing well through 2 periods is the standard for the highest paid goalie of all time.

What I mean is that he kept is in it in order to take over the game in those two periods, and yet, we didn't. I know you're just being you, but it's annoying at this point and I'm just considering you being the first person I put on ignore in more than a decade here because you can't comprehend that when Igor makes 3 point blank stops on the doorstep while our D-men just kind of stand there and watch, the fourth or fifth is probably going to go in. I bet your heart stopped when he didn't magically grow another limb to stop the deflection that you'd probably scream in ecstasy if it was one of our guys finishing. Nevermind that he got peppered for 37 shots.

The problem is all the great saves he makes is undone by the awful goals he gives up.

Igor was seiged today and most of the goals were good chances, but that OT goal was weak.

We're paying for special. Quick could have given us what we got today.

Like, again, Igor had a tough ask today but he gave up four goals. It's a premium contract for normal NHL goaltending.
Well ACKSHUALLY his next contract doesn't start until next season ☝️:groucho:

..is what I would say if I was a gigantic nerd.

Dude and his agent have been peacocking around screaming "I'm the best, I'm the best" for like a year to anyone who would listen. I'm still waiting for "the best" to show up one of these days and definitively out-goalie the other goalie. I see "the best" a lot more from Quickie than I have from Igor which begs the question: Why? "But Drury couldn't let Igor walk!" Sure he could have. Why couldn't he? Because, again, this guy screamed "I'm the best" loud enough and enough times that everyone just said "Yea I guess that's true."

This team lacks the footspeed to stretch the ice, be up on the forecheck and prevent easy outs, come back in time to disrupt odd man rushes and apply back pressure.

They have to add better skaters. HAVE to. They are a step late WAAAY too often. If you are gonna play that way you need to slow the other team by playing a heavy game which they can’t do consistently as a team

And that’s in addition to all of the other bs. Puck management. Powerplay. Outlet passing. Net front coverage. Coaching.

It’s like watching the team make mistakes in slow motion, so frustrating. Once a team starts to turn it up they are left chasing.

And for gods sake. Fire Housley. That should be the first move.

For a team that won a lot of games last year and is the race this year, they are an astoundingly bad fundamental hockey team.

In a game that presented myriad reasons to make me angry, you wanna know what pisses me off the most? The f***ing too many men and penalty. Just inexcusable.

They got wrecked all game. Igor kept it close. Then Igor choked it away. It’s crazy how a loss like this can’t be blamed on the goalie at all and totally blamed on him at the same time. The tying goal and the winner were just gross. Gross gross gross.

Absolutely brutal.

I don't know why but I'm livid at this loss. I can't believe we're being sold the lie that this shitrag group deserves the playoffs. Their backs have been against the wall for a month and they just piss it away like it's November

- Laviolette running ANOTHER f***ING TURTLE in the 3rd period with a 1 goal lead is astounding. How many f***ing coaches is it going to take to stop this? I know the Rangers D aren't exactly flush for talent and unfortunately turtling is kind of what they need to do but man just AWFUl.

- Chris Kreider is done. Cooked. Useless. I don't want to see him anymore. The fact that he drew in for Berard is a disgrace.

- Braden Schneider needs to go this offseason. He sucks at everything. This mean tuff eraser type he was supposed to be has not and will never materialize. His positioning and his panicking with the puck ensures this. Sell high and be rid of him this summer.

- Matt Rempe yet again is our best forecheck presence. I'd be more happy with that if he wasn't seemingly our only forecheck presence and plays 3 minutes a night.

- I didn't think Soucy had a bad game or anything but like, that third period turtle? We have to do that almost because our D are so f***ing untalented and when teams push you need to make quick decisions. We just added another guy that sucks at it. Great! When do we start addressing issues?

I'm just livid. This whole organization can get utterly f***ed. If they squeak into the playoffs they'll get waxed in 4 no problem at all.
Just stop buying the lie even if they are trying to sell it to you.

Patiently waiting for you all to come around that Miller isn't this culture changing savior type. He just hits sometimes and yells a lot. Sorry.
Wouldn’t he have fixed Pettersson if he could fix all the malcontents and lazy players?

I think it's funny how you mention shots against against when it was 37 but when it was 17 against Toronto you were still absolving him and blaming the D.

When will every single fan figure out that if you think every Ranger coach has sucked, that it's about the players?

Coaches can only matter for a short stretch.

How many Rangers are elusive on offense and can create?

Panarin and JT, and Fox, when he's not skating in slush.

The difference between how the Rangers skate and how their opponents skate is incredible.

That has nothing to do with who 's coaching.
Don’t love the job that many of our coaches have done but it’s a fact that we just aren’t very good.

this falls on the coach and his staff. far too many games they start unprepared, not ready to engage, and defensively they are in shambles.. the PP cannot regain its composure...

Laviolette just sits on his hands... hes sucks. hes a one year retread bum

I'm frustrated like everyone else but its a mediocre team so I understand. We are not icing a lot of talent right now.

Our current defensive group is a bunch of castoffs and 2 underperforming 1st round picks.

Our offense is several guys over 30 that will never be in their primes again plus a #1 overall pick who has taken a step back.

Yes they are the NY Rangers but the team played over their heads last season and then fell off a table. The warts we have seen for years have gotten worse and worse. They will not get better. I still think we have a chance to make the playoffs but I expect Drury to move 3-6 large name Rangers in the offseason. This window is closed. The only question now is will the team be better next season after wholesale changes.
Boy it’s kinda like we should have kept rebuilding and not tried to win with our last core that wasn’t good enough.

Again, the same issues that led to Laviolette being fired in Washington are the same exact issues arising here. This shouldn’t be surprising to anyone, especially when they watch this team play hockey. Yes, part of the blame is on the players, but it’s also the structure within which they’re asked to play.

There’s just absolutely zero creativity on offense, and they’re genuinely one of the easiest teams to defend against at 5v5. The perimeter cycling and low-percentage point shots aren’t scaring anyone, especially when they dont make any effort to move bodies between the circles. Laviolette can talk all he wants about having the defensemen push the pace and playing downhill, but it’s all just lip service.

When you’re that easy to defend against, it’s easier for the other team to break out in transition and outnumber you through the neutral zone. I’d ask the Rangers if they know what that means, but this organization hasn’t cared about or tried defending off the rush since 2014-15. Constantly losing transition battles leads to sustained shifts against in the d-zone and possession against you. That leads to chipping out the puck and changing rather than getting a chance to forecheck and win loose puck battles.

It’s just another year of a subpar 5v5 Rangers team relying on goaltending and special teams. We all know how this story ends.

This has been the weirdest season with the weirdest player moves. It's literally reshuffling deck chairs on the titanic, but yet there's absolutely no clear direction of a plan forward. It's exactly what I decribed it as a few months ago, purgatory. Not bad enough to get a high pick, way too shitty to contend for a cup.
They can’t admit they are not good enough and go back to rebuilding.

They’ll continue to shuffle things around in a vain attempt to ice a first or second round playoff team. Gotta get that gate revenue.

One Cup in 80 years is all we need as long as we keep piling up those playoff eliminations.
