He is no where near a complete dman and his skills is overhyped by certain people but yes, make no sense they dont even give him a chance. It's not like they have a good defense.
Agreed he’s over hyped but I could have seen him becoming a top 4ish guy if given the time of day.

It is really stupid. Like you draft this kid, spend all this development time and money with him. Then you staple his ass to the popcorn booth.

Like why keep trading futures for plugs when you have a guy who has talent to be a top 4 Dman, or better. The worst case is you he doesn’t work out and you have an inconsistent bottom pair? Have we not had an inconsistent bottom pairing going to back to Russell and Wideman? What if he gains his confidence and learns to be a top player, like Andersson? You have to let these kids figure out and learn by playing and give them a leash.

The way the Flames have treated Oliver and Bennett is so mind boggling. The best teams in the league do it the right way. But no, let’s keep signing expensive plugs and wasting our developmental assets that have lots of upside.

I look at Boston this year as a team that was written off (as much as the Bruins can be) because they lost both Chara and Krug and didn’t replace them.

They trust their young guys in Zboril and Lauzon to come in and play and it hasn’t hurt them much if at all. Like, there’s something to be said for good drafting, but you can’t just not give them a consistent opportunity.

Not saying this should have happened, but once Kylington cleared waivers could he have not gone down to Stockton to start getting some games in? Instead he hasn’t played a game all season and you’re absolutely screwing the kid over in terms of development. You’ll never know what you actually had in him.

This very well may be the plan but the Heat hasn't played a single game yet this year.

Cold take: it's already too late for Kylington. They've (Huska) ruined him. They coached the offense out of him because of a misguided hysteria over his defensive play. Now they're pissed because he plays it too safe most of the time.

Sad when the racist former coach was the only one willing to give him a chance.

Edit: And he hasn't played a meaningful game of hockey in what, a year now? Yeah, that's gonna do wonders for his development. This organization is a mess.

He's definitely not been handled properly and needed a chance. But it wasn't misguided. He was brutal defensively, offense doesn't do much good if you're giving up tons of prime chances every game.

But he never got a chance to grow

He hasn't retired yet? Isn't he almost Gio's age by now?
Going for the record of a 30+year old "rookie", 10 years plus in organization with under 50 NHL games played. Yet still considered "valuable and awaiting his turn"?

But if he is sent down to Stockton, Tre doesn't have a top-4 potential "popcorn eating" back-up
Dman he can proudly say " I have helped develop him. We have great depth and we are just warming up for the Playoffs!"

So coaches after coaches, the Flames refuse to play Kylington. They treat him even worse than Bennett.

What is the reason? Name your conspiracy theory.

He makes obvious mistakes that have caused scoring chances against but doesn't get enough ice time to know if it can be worked on.

The coaches can't say his name correctly, so he doesn't know they're talking to him.

When the coaches say, "Ollie, you..." It sounds like,"All of you..."

Let’s see if Sutter is serious about giving him a real chance first.

2022 Cup to Calgary
Kylington>>>God

In the beginning Oliver created the rink and the ice.
And the ice was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Oliver moved upon the face of the nets.
And Oliver said, Let there be hockey: and there was hockey.
And Oliver saw the hockey, and it was mediocre; and Oliver divided the hockey from the mainstream sports, before Treliving put him on waivers again.
