  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Really excited to see him at camp if we don't trade him before that. He's been cooking for 4 years & now dominating. Now is the fun part let's see what he can do with the Habs.
He should join Laval for playoffs already this season. He will be a great reinforcement, they are already dominating the league. I could be a great playoff run for them.

Very good ? When was the last time a 21 year old went ppg in Sweden ? It's exceptional.
Exactly this. Kapanen "should not be" producing that well already at this point of his development. But he is, and with this season he has jumped to the next stage of his career, i.e. to jump in NHL already next season. There starts to be some serious competition for the 3C position.

Technically, he already made the team this year, so unless he is traded, I expect him to be a lock in NHL team next year. Luckilly, he was sent to Sweden, because this team was a huge mess back then, especially coaching staff. I guess it actually increased his potential to become 2C, because he could spend time on developing his offensive skills.

Really? what did he say?
Danault, who has one season left on a contract with a cap hit of just over $3 million U.S., answered with a curt yes when asked if his role with the team would influence his desire to stay in Montreal. Danault’s role with the club changed in the latter stages of the playoff series against Philadelphia.

Danault, who enjoyed success over the past two seasons with Tomas Tatar and Brendan Gallagher, was moved to a defensive line with Paul Byron and Artturi Lehkonen. “In the playoffs, the coaches wanted to see what the kids could do and they shuffled the cards,” Danault said. “My role has become strictly defensive and I am repeating myself, but I know I can bring more than that. I’ve always had great chemistry with Brendan Gallagher and Tomas Tatar. This trio can work.”

I think it was blown out of proportion at the time he said it, but I also remember when he left to LA there was conversation in the media that he was going there because he thought he'd have 2nd line center position with an offensive role still.

Never forget that Danault cried to the media when he was placed on a line with Lehkonen.
Hate say it, but Bergevine was partially right about Daneault. He wasn’t going to match the 5.5 and make him a 2C. I say partially, because he did offer 5 mill, which would look pretty terrible on our squad right now.

Kapenen seemed to have a good season. Looking forward to seeing how he does in Laval if he does make it for the playoffs. I have a hard time slotting him with the Habs until I see him perform in NA

2 more years at 5.5M, imagine Jake Evans with that salary... But with the cap going up, it's not that bad.

But luckily Evans is signed at 2.85 and is arguably more useful and younger than Danault. I liked Danault, but he didn’t llive up to his own ambitions, but he got someone to pay him like he would. (He did have one productive season that justified that salary, but it hasn’t look good since. ) Too bad he didn’t buy in fully as a defensive specialist. He WAS good at that.

If Timra goes out it would give Kapanen a few weeks to get acclimated with Laval for their playoff run, I think that would be the ideal outcome. A long playoff run in the SHL is a close second but I really want Laval to be a wagon in the playoffs and this guy is gonna help.

Danault is worth every penny of his contract and more. He’s twice the player Evans is.

I swear people have no idea how much a player like Danault help a team. Send him against opposing top lines magically he out scores them. Then you haven’t use your own 1st line….we have to deploy Suzuki against McDavid, Kuch and MacKinnon because we don’t have a Danault.

Show me proof that Danault outscore his opponents top lines this year and last year.

He was very good the last year he was here, and his first with the kings, but he is no longer the same player.

But, Evans was doing a bit of what you are saying at the start of the year. He has cooled off a bit.

more likely he would have been covering up for Laine and Demidov on an actual 2nd line
