In 2 games, he is 16 in 25 or 64%
Still not enough, need more dammit! lol

I think @Bacchus1 is in disbelief because all of a sudden the Habs have prospects who can actually take and win faceoffs fairly consistently. It was one of the takeaways from the rookie camp that I found impressive...

I’m happy for the guy winning 16/25. It is a good start. Keep it up. But, as a rule, I am never wowed by small sample sizes.

I don't know what his faceoff stats were in sm-liiga last year, but his wjc stats were the best

Kapanen seemed to have progressed towards the end of last season but is right back in bustville this season. He still has time but it's leaning towards no contract offer like Olofsson. He's not known for his defensive play and isn't contributing anything offensively. It's early but 1 point in 9 games isn't a good trend.

Kapanen is definitely getting signed. His season last year was as good as Ylonen's best liiga season.

He's also a center, plays a 2-way game, and is strong on faceoffs.

Ylonen was close to team lead though, he just played on a crap team. Kapanen's leading team mate last year nearly doubled his production. When Ylonen had a team mate like in his D+1 that he had the same totals. The fact that he nearly kept the same production despite losing their top 3 scorers is amazing. I don't think Kapanen gets signed if he doesn't improve. We had less prospects to choose from when Ylonen first got signed.

We'll see. I don't like not signing high picks but we did just sign a bunch of later round picks because they developed so well. Maybe give him the Laval contract with a chance to get the ELC.

Your opinion is on it's way to bustville as are most hyperbolic hot takes.

1 point in 8 games is not a great start considering most guys play about 50 games a year in Liiga. He's nearly 20% through the season already. He had a pretty abysmal start last year too and only really turned it on in the last couple of months. His strong finish shot him up the prospect rankings but it seems like it was premature.
