It's gotta be the surgery. He's just not at a place physically where he can perform like he did last year. Having the injuries on defense hasn't helped him. He's obviously frustrated with himself if you read the post game quotes from him last night. Dude's a warrior and a competitor, so anyone thinking this is a long term issue are overreacting.
But that doesn't mean there isn't an issue right now. LA is such a small hockey market that there is no goalie controversey, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it start to be discussed if Quick stays on his current trajectory and Bernier continues to win 3-5 games for every one he loses.
Given that I think Quick's issues are physical and that only time will help, I wouldn't be surprised to see Bernier as the starting goaltender by the trade deadline. I just don't know if the Kings will shut down Quick for the year, or if he'll take a back up role.
