Post-Game Talk: Oilers win the battle but lose the war against their arch nemesis…

I was late getting into the GDT, and one of the first posts I saw was someone complaining about Skinner's positioning after making a save while he was half way to a 1-0 shutout against a major division rival.

The most HFOil post ever.

Tough season for Stu, but full marks for this win.

Playoffs like game. Both teams trying to minimize chances and play smart.

- Stuart BOUNCEBACK Skinner is a real thing. An OFFICIAL shutout this time around.
- Podz continues to impress. Frequency of nice plays increasing.
- Same can be said of Emberson. Ekholm-Emberson in the final minute, shows Knob knows.
- ENs suck.
- McDrai pointage with a McD goal, love to see it.
- Thought Kapanen and RV had his moments but forward depth overall... needs to be better.

Maybe Draisaitl isn’t aware that Rinehart scored twice today to close the gap. Or maybe he just flat out doesn’t give a shit about the Rocket.

They are who we thought they were.

Kings love to play that style of game but when the Oilers want to, they’ve got the formula to beat it. Stay patient, pick up your assignments in the D zone and don’t give them anything easy. Eventually our skills overpowers there’s and we get one and then they’re forced to open up or just die a slow death, they opened up a bit and Kuemper gave them a chance but they couldn’t do anything.

Oilers really weren’t great tonight against a team that wanted it bad but we just beat them at their own game.

The reality is that he has levelled out. He's had two bad games, against Florida and Pittsburgh, in the last almost 2 months now. Outside of those two games, he's been one of the best goalies in the league in that timeframe.
