Put him on an actual scoring line with actual scoring line players. Playing a scorer with corpses and/or checkers is setting him up to fail.
If the coach is truly going to test the players, JB will get a shot at a stint in the top 6, the rotating spot for now seems to be 1LW.

The potential audition target to me if before the the February break would be the Habs game on January 23, that would give Kasper a 7 game stint on the top line line.

I can't see T-Mc changing things too much on the upcoming road trip if they are still working (even if not winning every game, so long as things are going good).

Maybe, I could see a scenario of Burgers getting a chance to pump up some numbers playing with Larks and Raymond.

But I could also see a scenario where Kasper is so good with those two that they keep him there for the season.

His future is in Europe but I wouldn't push him out of the organization any quicker than is necessary. If he can only play on scoring lines, he has no future here because we need players better than him on our scoring lines.

He might be the kind of guy that's a "bad team scorer" kind of like Tomas Tatar, AA, Domi, etc. If he can play top six minutes on a bottom 12 team he'll produce, but I don't think there's any playoff contender where he'd be safely in their top six.

Work him into a trade. If he could be packaged into a trade for a top 4 LD that can play with Seider or ASP in the future then I think we're solid. There are plenty of 3rd line wingers that will be available in FA this upcoming offseason.

T-Mc is in the relationship building phase and seems to have buy-in from the team, if he is true to his word, he will take to the TDL (or longer) to sort the team out and give everyone a chance to show what they got.

I would suggest that SY has some input as who gets tried where, but JV had a good shot and seemed to work OK on the 1LW, you might see Ras there before JB, but I think there may be some showcasing at play too before the TDL. (There seems to be room for two more audition windows before the TDL, assuming they are at least 5 games long and allowing for some reasonable practice time along the way)

I believe T-Mc has stated he sees forward lines as pairs and he likes to populate the 3rd spot with needs per game(s), to do so, he needs to know who fits well with whom.

So assuming that Larks and Ray are a pair, and D-Cat and Kane are another, it leaves a pretty open canvas for the rest of the arrangements to see what what works for whom in the coach's view.

Some things he may not mess with, such as the current top 4 D as long as things are still working well, but I think he has leash to tinker and figure things out (or he would not have taken the job).

If he can find several successful plug and play arrangements for different situations, it certainly helps with matchups at home and maybe cause some matchup considerations for opposition teams on the road.

I think that is exactly it. Like someone else mentioned, I think he is pretty much a AAAA player. I have zero issues including him in a trade, especially if he can be used with other assets to land that coveted top 4 LD you mention (which should be our biggest priority between now and next season).

I like him. I think there’s definitely enough talent and smarts to get him into middle six/40 point territory in a few years. But so far this season, I can’t recall liking him on any line. I’ve never thought “that’s a great role for him,” which could just be shitty luck or could be an indictment against his style of play.

Like others, I’d have no problem using him as an add-on in a trade for a bigger fish but also wouldn’t mind keeping him around if he continues to grow.
