Skinners pad positioning is like Freddy Krueger claws to me. I'll have nightmares anyway. Oh we won, Thank god as I said for 4 superstar goals and needing every one. Skinner requiring the whole team to gut out an OT win and only because we have superstars. Otherwise we lose cuz Fred Skinner.

If we got Sorokin this is a shutout.
That OT was one of the most dominanting OT's I can ever remember watching, so atleast the Oilers stars managed to get a 2nd point.

I laugh when people bring up being shaky defensively

We have given up 4 High Danger chances the last 2 games

Add maybe 2 more b/c NSS only goes by where the shots are taken from

Islanders today? Allow 15!
Plus the Islanders had 20 ownzone turnovers and the NHL stats through sympathy stop counting. I mean lets not even pretend the Oilers were giving up anything close. The Islanders turned the puck over to the McD line, to the Drai line, all night.

The Oilers were just stopping the Islanders all night. NYI didn't even get zone possession on their PP's Skinner was dealing with next to nothing in this game. It was shot and chance supression as good as it comes.

Really? The Oilers turned the puck over in their own end at least a half dozen times through the first period and were pretty lifeless until the third.

Will gladly take the win, but it’s time for management to seriously look at getting a true starter. Sorokin deserves a purple heart for that effort, backstopping a severely understaffed Isles team to an almost improbable victory. Connor is skating well gain, nice to see.
Not likely, more likely is that they give Skinner 8x8 this summer.

But how? True #1 goalies aren't readily available. As inconsistent as Skinner has been this season, I don't know how you find a CLEAR upgrade at a reasonable price point. This is their goalie tandem for better or worse just have to score lots of goals and minimize chances like they've done most of the Knoblauch era. That damn near won a Cup with these goalies.

So when the Oilers play the Canucks in Vancouver we get the Canucks PBP team but when Calgary plays them in Vancouver they get the Flames PBP team?

J. Skinner demoted to 4th line. I guess the excitement on that signing has gone South.
Disappearing Jeff Skinner has returned. But even when he's trying to get his nose in for pucks in his scoring areas he's easily handled. Almost nobody seemed to recognize this but life was going to be harder for him in WC. I see this conference as generally harder hockey, bigger hockey, more physicality. He's not in Buffalo anymore where no opponents even bother with an effort. Thats the trouble, we've never seen Skinner on a good team. On a team where he has to fight through checking this is maybe more what he is.

I didn't want him. He's not scoring and he's not a 200ft player and he doesn't play any special teams. Doesn't fill any boxes really.

If the team doesn't want to give a chance to Pickard, why not claim Kahkonen and see what he can do? As long as we don't have an above average starter we should try things

Almost winning the cup with these goalies was a miracle or at least almost a miracle.

Great 3rd period from Mc-D. Huge games from both Drai and Ekholm.

I wonder if someone had the stat--how many games (as a %) have the Oilers had the 2nd best goalie on the night?
asn't Pickard great in Detroit?

Skinner did go "Sorokin" one game. Was it against CAR? The one we lost in OT? I remember him making so many good saves and being dumbfounded, but he did look erratic.

I legit think we have the 2nd best goal in 90% of our games for sure

That Bouchard Ekholm pairing was dominant tonight. High danger scoring chances were 9-1 with them on the ice and scoring chances were 19-5. Skinner needs to bail them on the odd time they make a mistake.
Yeah, Bouch was much better this game. Hopefully he keeps it up.

Remember when he made a routine save, had the puck covered, but didn't realize it and almost farted it into his own net?
I remember this happening more than once tonight. If they’re going to continue to play him then Knoblach is going to have to be quick with the hook. You can see the signs when this guy is starting to lose it in the net and about to give up a bushel of goals. Yank him before he sewers your night.
