Frederic's deal killed any chance of Dickinson getting under 4. Would have been nice to get a deal at that 3.5-3.75 range

Can everyone shut up about Fredric already?

Give him 1/4 of next season with a new coach. If he still sucks we can run him out of town then.

Im pretty confident he will be worth his cap hit next year.

You're not "running him out" of anywhere, he will be here for a long while no matter what happens.

Which makes it even more important to just root for the guy to turn things around and get back to his Boston days rather than consistently shit on him. He's here for a lonnnnng time.

New coach and someone who deploys him correctly could be good. When Knob put him on the top line to start the year, was probably one of the dumber decisions he's made in his tenure here.

Frederic just needs a role, he needs to be told what to do, and to do it.

Last year he was tossed around the entire lineup (and press box) like a hot potato.

Not a fan, think the fanbase turns on him before season ends. I dont know if I would have even went above $3m on him tbh.

Im confident Babcock will make Frederic look more like an actual NHL player. I’m also confident that nothing could make him look like a guy who deserves 3.85M and an NMC at max term.

Gave up term to get a workable AAV. Oil get a high character defensive first player to solidify the critical 3C position. Posted previously…

I think it's really hard to evaluate Dickenson based on role on a perennial deep lottery team. I think alot of x-stats tilt toward offensive production and maybe undervalue or distort the goal suppression reality within the game. This is most notable in shutdown defenders, not sure about forwards.

When you look at Dickenson's EV ice-time he perennial starts in a hole with excessive defensive zone starts. The summary below looks at a three year sample of Dickinson's Chicago individual usage against team performance. His heavy weighting dzone starts most likely reflect his goal suppression role but also the performance of a deep rebuild lottery team.

It's interesting to look at his EV On-Ice Goal Differential compared to the Blackhawks team 5V5 goal differential. Stunning difference with his outlier offensive year in 2023-24 notably where 20 of 22 goals were EV. His shooting % shot up to 17.5% that season but his shot volume was also significantly higher, 126 Shots on goal versus 56 and 73 last season.

2025-26: Dzone: 73.4% Ozone: 26.6% On-Ice EV Goal Differential: -9. Team 5V5 Differential: -47
Goal Differential Total: -62

2024-25: Dzone: 66.0% Ozone: 34.0% On-Ice EV Goal Differential: -11. Team 5V5 Differential: -57
Team Goal Differential Total: -70

2023-24: Dzone: 61.0% Ozone: 39.0% On-Ice EV Goal Differential: +4. Team 5V5 Differential: -84
Team Goal Differential Total: -111

His NHLEdge metrics show a 62 percentile max skating speed and 62 percentile total miles skated.

I like the player. High character who prides in doing the non-sexy responsibilities at the critical 3C role on ice. Skates well. Have to wonder if these more offense that can tease out on a better team and line mates. The concern is pretty pedestrian face-off numbers (and left hand shot).

He can help this team with its most critical need at goal suppression. The question is going to be price tag.

I would of rather gave Kapanen 3 million over 5 years than this , Bowman wants the slowest team in the league, he has turned us to the fastest to the slowest in 3 years congrats Out Mcleod, Foegle, Holloway,Broberg

Not exactly sure what great options are out there, some seem to think we can get young star quality players cheap. Those don’t exist, and if they hire Babcock it will be even more difficult to fix this roster.

Seems like too long of a deal but we need him now. He needs to have a good year, every goal he gets will be like a bonus.
