I liked what he brought to the table, maybe a little long on term but the AAV seems decent. Hopefully he chips in a little more offense next season even though that's not what we are paying him to do for the most part.

Probably market value for a player like this in this cap environment but I can’t say I’m a fan. Seems a bit Henrique-esque at this stage of his career. Third line will struggle to create offense. Maybe they can leverage some soft minutes for the 4th line with Samanski.

Hopefully he’s healthy.

McMann is not a center and he probably gets northward of $5.5 million in a year with a crappy UFA class.

I’m fine with that as McMann could score 30 goals in the top 6. With Dickinson, you are paying $4 mil for a player who has no offense and is mediocre on draws. This contract will age really poorly with the term being 5 years

Then who plays 3C? RNH? This allows us to hopefully run RNH-Dickinson-? as an experienced 3rd line. Don't get me wrong, I would like to add McMann too but having a match-up center is a nice luxury to have.

That isn't actually a TERRIBLE deal. Longer than I would like by 2 years, but the cap hit is pretty decent actually. Especially when we start seeing the crazy contracts people are going to sign for in July.
Pretty much how I feel though the term is what likely kept the AAV to $4M. The devil though will still be in the details. Is this laden with bonuses? Are there movement clauses. The latter in particular could be a big part of how this deal plays out.

Frankly, I'd like to see a bonus in year 1 and year two but not beyond with no movement restrictions. That would give the team a bit of an out if this goes bad.

Glad to keep him but this isn’t some great deal. It’s not bad either, but there’s risk imo. Reminds me of Frederic in a way, trade for him, he gets hurt, don’t want to waste those trade assets so they sign him long term. I just hope that ankle injury doesn’t slow him down, he needs to be able to continue to skate well if he’s going to shadow other teams stars.

I hope Murphy signs for less term and similar $.

I’m okay with this deal, he is supposedly exactly what we need. I feel like we haven’t seen his true full impact yet if it ever comes

Murphy for 4.25m or less now would be great. Then start shipping out the dead weight
