Not a fan of this signing to be honest. This player doesn’t move the needle for us. Would have rather signed McMann for 5.5 per year.
McMann is going to get 6.5-7+.

McMann is not a center and he probably gets northward of $5.5 million in a year with a crappy UFA class. Not a fan of this signing to be honest. This player doesn’t move the needle for us. Would have rather signed McMann for 5.5 per year.

Thats the biggest thing. I want guys who show up when the stage gets bigger.I can dig it, he was really good in the playoffs despite his injuries.
Then who plays 3C? RNH? This allows us to hopefully run RNH-Dickinson-? as an experienced 3rd line. Don't get me wrong, I would like to add McMann too but having a match-up center is a nice luxury to have.I’m fine with that as McMann could score 30 goals in the top 6. With Dickinson, you are paying $4 mil for a player who has no offense and is mediocre on draws. This contract will age really poorly with the term being 5 years
I think that Bowman added the 5th year just to piss you off.5 years?
Pretty much how I feel though the term is what likely kept the AAV to $4M. The devil though will still be in the details. Is this laden with bonuses? Are there movement clauses. The latter in particular could be a big part of how this deal plays out. That isn't actually a TERRIBLE deal. Longer than I would like by 2 years, but the cap hit is pretty decent actually. Especially when we start seeing the crazy contracts people are going to sign for in July.

It was such a small sample size though. His first taste of the playoffs and he was great, but it’s just a handful of 1st round games.Thats the biggest thing. I want guys who show up when the stage gets bigger.
Murphy is a key piece to get done ASAP. If you don't get Murphy I don't see how they trade Nurse for example. Now get Murphy inked at a reasonable AAV and term and then go hunting for players that can help us at reasonable AAV's and an impact player up front.
Won’t make any difference after the next 2 years anyway.5 years?
