Does anyone remember Ty Rattie? Pre season means nothing. Perlini had 16 points in 21 games in the swiss league last season. Linus Omark had 61 in 49 games... Everything points to him being a tweener at best.
Perlini also had 3 seasons in the NHL with 17, 14, and 14 goals. Enough with the Rattie comparisons already! Perlini is bigger, faster, and already proven he can score at the NHL level. Do some basic research on the player hey?

About time this guy got his own thread.

Where does he fit?
What are his strengths and weaknesses as a player?
What line does he belong on and what players could accentuate his game?
Would you like to see him on the power play?
Who are his player comparables and how effective can he be?
What do you make of his career path?
What is his potential?

This thread wasn't my idea so give a little love to that Foghorn Leghorn bloke.
Agreed
Could be a steal of a signing. Kenny is da man

Perlini is a pretty intriguing player, and he's played really well. that said, I'm not sure he makes this team
I don’t that’s even a question anymore he has 100% made the team. Why do you think he needs to be a top 6 forward. Scoring in our bottom 6 is something we desperately need.

I don't think he needs to be a top 6 forward. I think he needs to be a responsible bottom 6 forward. i thought that was clear in what I wrote.

The way he’s playing, I wonder if it’s possible to give him a look in the top 6. I want to see what he can do with Drai and Nuge. He’s been extremely impressive. But being a LW I’m not sure if there is a fit there.
If he makes the team, I see him or even Fogele (Still lazy to check the spelling) take a spot on the 2nd line. We need a bigger guy to replace Yammo IMO. That Drai line should never be under 50% Corsi in games

He's also a guy who has questionable work ethic and has been a streaky scorer his whole career most fans of teams he's played for is he'll look good for a stretch than disappear for twice as long. I'd love for him to turn into a Maroon type of pick up, though.

Me too absolutely. Here's hoping the lessons were learned in Europe. Chances only last for so long in the NHL.

I’m just glad we’re not pretty much basing our season around hoping he pulls a breakout season out of nowhere. If he steps up and contributes amazing but if he’s just a solid 4th liner/13th forward our season isn’t sunk.

I see he got another point tonight (against 'real' NHL competition), so good for him. He's certainly making a great case for himself. I guess the story will be told by these last 3 pre-season games (assuming he dresses for them all).

Pre-season means next-to-nothing, though, and the first half of the pre-season means precisely nothing.

Perlini might not be perfect and it's wise to hold judgement on the player until the regular season games begin, then continue to evaluate him right up to the end of the season. But who is he battling with for a roster spot on the left side who is clearly a better player?

RNH
Hyman
Foegele

Perlini
Shore (likely the 4th line center by default or it's Turris who is a RHS)
McLeod (Who might play at center or in Bakersfield)
Griffith (yup)
Benson (who is now injured)
Lavoie and a list of other players in the AHL

If Holloway didn't have the wrist problem and was given an equal chance in camp, without considering his long term development, makes the roster even if it's as the 13th/14th forward. We really don't have the depth yet we need to shelter and properly develop our young players. We don't have much cap space either.

Back in the day we were so bad we were Relying on guys like Nilsson and Rattie to fill top 6 spots on our team. We’re relying on Perlini to be a 4th liner. That’s the difference.

That wasn't the point I'm making.
Perlini looks great so far and yes, we are not relying on him to score goals. But let's not pitch tents over preseason antics.
