Wanted more low cost high reward reclamation projects for this season. This fits the bill. Size, hands, shooting ability, and history of decent production. Detroit was a tire fire last season, if he can bounce back to his Yotes days big win. I like it.

Last I seen of him he really didn't impress me, some talent, but poor effort level, and terrible defensively. We'll see if a year in Europe helped him, but I don't have high hopes for him.

Poor effort level in board battles? Not skating hard? Is he unaware defensively or does he just not work hard on the defensive side of the puck?

No risk reclamation project for a guy with great size and first round pedigree.

Size and speed on the wings seems to be a clear emphasis this off-season.

I like it. A big, fast, and tenacious forecheck can really wear a team down. Foegele, Hyman, Puljujarvi, an engaged Kassian, Holloway if he plays, etc. are a big and fast group of wingers who can close distances quickly on the forecheck.

Even with Yamamoto and Nuge who are smaller guys, we’re going to have a big group of forwards this year it’ll be fun to see.

This is the best forward depth we’ve had in the McDrai era, looking forward to seeing how it comes together.

Always cheer for these reclamation types. Hopefully he makes the most of his opportunity here. As others have mentioned, low risk & it provides some internal competition as well as depth.

Now for a #1 Goaltender Mr. Holland

I don't know much about Perlini, but looking at his stats I paid attention to pretty terrible +- stats during the last years. Two seasons ago he had -18 in 39 games (NHL) and last year -17 in 21 games (Switzerland), which seems to be the worst per game in the league.

On the other hand it's not too long ago when he was scoring reasonable amount of goals. I know some always downplay the +- stat, but I don't think it's coincidence some players are consistently among the best/worst of the team.

When his effort level was as poor as I saw it's hard to say how much is mental awareness, but yeah he was losing a lot of puck battles in a lot of different situations cause the other guy just wanted it more, basically the polar opposite of Hyman.

Weird signing. Guess it's for some competition in camp and a LW for the Condors.

Good move. Low risk signing that could potentially give us a solid reward if he recaptures his 2016-18 form and first round pick pedigree. Would love to see us throw a few more contracts like this out to guys like Galchenyuk, Svechnikov, Dal Colle etc. Most of them will probs end up being bums and AHL fodder, but if even one turns out for us it's a free bottom 6 scoring option.
Dal Colle is one I'd really like to take a shot on. There's a two-way game there that's workable. I'd like to see how he'd adjust moving into the middle, where a future call up might be more likely.

Has he ever played center at any point of his career? I was under the impression he was winger from junior to AHL to NHL. Not that we really need centers, we have all of McDavid/Draisaitl/RNH/Ryan/Holloway/McLeod/Turris (vomit)/Shore (doublevomit) who can play center in the org.

Oilers I think have only 42 contracts (and that's after they sign all their RFA's)... so they have plenty of room for a few of these "swing and a likely miss" type players. Maybe if they sign about 8 of them and send them all down to Bako... at least 1 or 2 might rebound into something.
Yup load up on them, it's free depth if they work out. Washington/Colorado are two teams that do this very frequently and for every 2/3 that end up staying in the NHL you get a DSP or Nichushkin that works out for you, would love to find ourselves a DSP or Nichushkin.

We don't even need him to bounce back to his Yotes production tbh, we just need him to be better than guys like Shore/Khaira/Russell etc were for us last year which isn't a tough ask.

Future McDavid LW.

That is exactly what I was thinking after watching all the available videos on YouTube. I think this guy is a sleeper hit for us. His hands, if still here, would be wicked with Connor. Big body like Hyman, able to get pucks, and good finish if his shot is still on point (goal against Dubnyk for instance). Or, imagine playing him with Drai on second line and moving Nuge to 3C. There was mention of him being able to play RW as well. If it was me, and I know this will be contentious for some, I actually wouldn't have tendered a qualifying offer to Yamo. I don't think he has done enough to warrant a 2nd line position, let alone another contract. I think, as fans and as a team (from management perspective) we need to be more clinical about our choice of players. A smaller guy has to be able to offer more than attracting penalties. If Yamo was scoring goals, may be another story. I guess, put another way, I exchange Yamo and Perlini depending on their performance.

With respect to these two quotes, I was thinking that we need to factor in the coaching and just the way those teams play their games. No matter what, the proof in the pudding is when he is coached by the same group of guys that everyone else on OUR team is coached by. Not a real apple to apples comparison.

YMMV, but I think he has the ability to crack top 6 given the chance.

On the other hand his +- and corsi numbers have been terrible during his last seasons (the worst +- in the whole league in Switerland last year, the worst and th 2nd worst corsi of the team in his two NHL teams). I don't know what's happened to him, but it seems he'll need to step back to what he was a few years ago if he wants to be ahead of the guys you mentioned.

Yeah of course things can always change. But as I just wrote and happened to publish at the same time his corsis have also been terrible lately so maybe there's something in his game that just hasn't been there for a few years. At least those stats give me a feeling he may not be an option for McDavid, to be honest I don't see that from his stats anyway. But I don't really know the player well enough so I could be wrong.

Just because it requires repeating: -17 in 21 GP in the Swiss league. Nothing to see here.

Obviously his team didn't do well (the 2nd last in the league), but -17 in 21 games was really bad. His ppg was the 2nd highest of the team, which was 44th in the whole league.

Maybe he can turn it around as he did have quite decent stats in the NHL just a few years ago, so you never know, but I won't expect any miracles.

I’d be surprised if they go after Dal Colle simply because his skating is an issue but his pedigree may convince them to take a flyer on him.

Thats with Klefbom on LTIR correct?

I think we see 4K back.
I like 4k and he plays both sides so he fills the 7th D spot perfectly. I would make a deal with Russell to go down and mentor the young guys this year in Bakersfield with a job after hockey as we need more of his leave it on the ice mentality and less actual Kris Russel right now. Lagesson and 4k switch back and forth on the 3rd pairing. If all goes well, by mid season Samorukov is ready to come up and fill for some injuries we will no doubt encounter.
