Heavy boots? God no. He's a great skater. He's got rocks for brains though.

Hopefully the year in Switzerland did him well. Definitely a Dave Tippett signing. Low risk. I like it. I'm not sure what this means for Benson though.

Loved the player in Niagara. Part of the miracle team that had no business cruising their way to the finals. Solid shot, big body, but he doesn't have the legs to be any more than a 4th liner who can knock in a few more goals than what we are used to... which is quite alright for me with the cost and zero risk associated.

Wasn't sure. I know of him as a scorer that's had trouble sticking in the NHL. Also remember him from a World Junior year where he didn't bring my team glory.

He hasn't picked up the art of penalty killing, which would be useful. Too bad bout them rocks. Don't mind low risk signings on players that are still young enough to be late bloomers or reclamation projects.

Probably a bit mean if he's ever reading the board, but dating back to junior I always found he relied a bit too much on having the puck on his stick. He never seemed to think the game that well. In the NHL he's relied a bit too much on getting the offensive push.

His line was an absolute force on the cycle though in his draft year. I believe it was him, Verhaeghe and Anthony DeFruscia. They almost upset the team that went to the OHL final that year in the first round.

Wonder what happened with this guy? Only thing I can think of is that he got lazy AF. He has skill. Work ethic is my logical conclusion as to why he just fell off in 1 year

Decent depth move. I’m assuming he starts in Bakersfield, maybe this is telegraphing Benson being given every opportunity to make the big squad.

He’d shelter guys like Lavoie a bit in Bakersfield while they continue to grow into the pro game.

That second goal is pretty nice

Guy's got nice mitts. I like the first goal as a nice snipe show perfect shot to beat the Dubnyk wall. Has a quick release and one timer shot that shows to beat goalies before they get set. Looks to maybe cheat a bit at least in the highlights so wonder how the defensive side of his game is (easy to teach and learn). Wonder too about finesse vs. physicality with the great size the player possesses.

But again solid low risk signing on a guy that might have gotten 'lost' during the pandemic instability and uncertainty. Intriguing.

EDIT: Thanks for sharing!

He has size, speed and decent skill. If he has a bounce back and pots 10+ goals for us, this is a steal of a deal. I wanted to acquire him years ago and then his game took a crap a season or two later.

Honestly this signing seems more like a shot across the bow for Benson.

If Perlini comes in and is amazing and earns a spot on the 4th line, great. But I'd be a bit annoyed if he comes in as a mediocre extra forward type and then they give him that extra spot over Benson. I don't even have much hope for Benson, but Holland and Tippet have barely given him the time of day as a prospect. Ditto for Marody.

They owe a player on a 2way deal nothing more than a shot in camp. My hope is that this is simply a message to Benson/Holloway etc that there will be no gifted spots. Best players make the team. Period. It's go time
