What's the consensus on Mikheyev? He's fast, and good defensively, but I wish he had some more awareness in the offensive zone. Dude will work hard to get the puck, only to do nothing with it.

I dont think his offensive zone awareness is that bad (its not good obviously, but I think it is okay). His #1 issue is he prefers to shoot and his chances/skillset puts him in a good place to shoot, but he doesnt have a good shot.

He uses his size and speed EXTREMELY well to protect the puck and get to the front of the net, but his in close scoring/shot is especially bad

But the players in question have the puck. Why would the refs be looking elsewhere?

Penalties happen away from the puck too. They have to watch both the puck and away. So it’s often set up for each guy to watch one. As an example, in offensive zones, the referee in the corner usually watches the puck and the guy in the neutral zone watches the net front.

I really think Jumbo is the anti-Samson. The longer his beard, the worse he plays. When he was playing well earlier in the season, his beard is not as big as now. He needs to shave it off and boom, he will be the Jumbo of 2006-07.

How can they possibly say the Habs have the best defence in the division, when we have given up fewer GPG?

Other than the odd dumb penalty, he isn’t really a liability out there.. Hyman was similar when he first came and now look at him. Hopefully Mikheyev can follow his “path” because he has all of the tools.
I still think he's working off that lingering wrist tendon injury.

Lol the Oilers thread is very sad...
At least we're honest for the most part with ourselves when the stars are playing like poop. They could be losing the game by one goal or 6. as long as the still have "The best duo in the world" as a consolation they can sleep at night. At least thats what they're telling themselves... Lol

I know they don't want to appear biased towards Toronto but SN didn't even have the the Leafs as an option for the "Best defense in the North Division" poll, despite the Leafs allowing 88 goals on the year with only Montreal (87) better. Winnipeg was somehow an option and their entire defense is praying Hellebuyck stops 40 shots.
