Jarkins - Chef - Wheel
Conner - PLD - Pereault
Ehlers - Stas - Copp
Lewis - Lowry - Apples

you could replace Perreault with VESA and the. Replace Lewis with Perreault if you like that as well... Have 3 scoring lines and one Checking.

They've also been hardmatched against the top lines instead of Morrissey-DeMelo. Seems to have worked for the most part so far.
Agree. I think Morrissey's metrics will recover. Even though RAPM adjusts for partners, it's hard to statistically adjust away how bad the pairing with Niku was.

There is no way you are going to keep all four C happy with ice time. Someone needs to play wing.

I think the CSW bashing has gone to far in this thread. Paul is the one playing them too much and they have never been great defensively so not sure why they would magically turn good from one game to another. Btw, 2nd line hasn't been great defensively in the past either. I'm just excited about all the options we get with Copp looking like a legit top 6 and PLD joining.

Paul isn't even using them that much lately. Right now the difference between the icetime of 1st line and 2nd line is pretty much all down to down to shift length. Going back the last 4-5 games, the 2nd line players are getting around ~19-20 shifts and the 1st line players get ~22-23 per game. If the shift lengths were the same for these players 1st line would average maybe 2.5-3 mins/game more than the 2nd line. Some of that shift length due to the the hard match against McDavid who takes long shifts.

I personally have not been paying much attention Maurice and his tendencies and am enjoying things more.

Ill comment on outcomes and schemes I like/don't like but I am not wasting much time this year on our coach's faults. By now we all know his tendencies and preferences. I'm juat going to focus on what happens on the ice.

The team has also been much more enjoyable to watch than the death march that was the 19-20 season so I don't wanna ruin it by focusing on the minutia.

That said I do think some of the criticism I have seen of Paul is a bit unreasonable, until a couple of games ago people in these threads were still attacking him for not playing Niku for example which at this point is a completely unreasonable criticism.

Totally agree but the Maurice sucks at everything narrative gets old. I don't think Maurice is perfect, far from it but he's also not as bad as alot say around here. Read some of the Oilers PGT and some on there said they got out coached, go figure.
He definitely does not suck at everything. Like all of us he can improve on some things.

I found one of Copps comments a bit interesting after the game when interviewed. He went out of his way to say "we have great leadership on this team". If Copp resigns (I hope he does), I could see him being part of the official or unofficial leadership group on the team. Doesn't sound like a "toxic locker room" to me.

I also liked how Wheeler referred to the PP2 (when interviewed) not as the PP2 but he called it "Nikky unit", I see that as a sign of respect to Ehlers as younger player......calling it his line.

Copp is already part of the leadership group imo. He was one of four people to reach out to Perfetti at the draft along with Wheeler, Scheifele, and Morrissey (Our leadership core). If you ask me he would be next in line for a letter.

Yeah, I really don't think we have had any major issues in the room since 18-19. I think it was pretty obvious that there were issues that year but our captain learned and adapted and the team gave some bigger voices to some more moderate players like Morrissey who can bridge the gap when needed. I think we have pretty solid functioning room right now and I believe players like Ehlers and Conner are also taking on bigger roles in that regard now.

Only problem is how do you give him a letter, and will he stay long term? It would look bad to give Morrissey’s letter to him, but then again I’ve never seen Morrissey as one of the true leaders (maybe he is?). Copp may also price himself out if he has a huge offensive season.

You do not need a letter to be part of the leadership group and a fair amount of leadership happens in the room. A good deal of the discussion around the trade has focused on leadership in the room.

Oh for sure. I would still have personally preferred giving the A top Copp (in case he can stay) instead of Morrissey, as I am not sure how much Morrissey is of a leader - at least I haven't really heard heard him ever been mentioned in any kind of leadership conversations.

I always remember when we drafted Copp, Chevy called him Captain material.

He is good leadership material, you can tell from listening to him and the hard work he has done to improve his game on and off the ice.

My only concern is his agent.........I hope his agent doesn't become a problem, same agent as Trouba. Ugh

People are watching Scheifeles ja Wheels this seasons performance throug the pretty glasses. Sure they have points. Against Ottawa they have been on "fire". That's not good merit. Ottawa is one of the worst teams in league. Against Calgary, Toronto and Edmonton they have been hideous and that's why people criticeces PoMo with his TOI decitions.

I really hope this doesn't bite us in the ass later.

I think Morrissey got one because he plays D - I'd guess they want an A in the defensive group as well. We also don't really know what goes on in the dressing room so we don't know if he's a good leader or not. From what I've seen of Morrissey it's a role he can definitely grow into.

Are we reading different posts? About 90% of the posts here are critical of Wheeler's play, to the point of whipping boy status. At least 70% have been critical of Scheifele, and a lot are critical of the entire line. The only positive that has been mentioned is that they have points.
